Default Star Trek (2009) in 3D?

Does anybody think that there is any chance Paramount may re-release Star Trek in 3D? Possibly prior to the theatrical release of Star Trek into Darkness? Or even when Star Trek into Darkness is released on Blu-ray itself. J.J. Abrams said that he was impressed with a Post-Conversion of the opening scene of Star Trek, so I'm sure it's possible we could see a 3D release in the non-too-distant future.

I have a 3DTV, but haven't yet been fully converted as a supporter of 3D (I thought that both Hugo and Life of Pi had great 3D), but I really do think that Star Trek would look fantastic in 3D. The opening scene alone would be amazing if done right (and, if J.J. Abrams said it looks excellent in 3D, then I believe him, because he too hasn't been won over by 3D yet).

So, is there a possibility that this could happen? Or, is it more just wishful thinking?

This thread is better suited in the Wish List subforum.

However, to answer your question, anything is possible. I'm sure we'll see a lot of films get the 3D treatment some day down the road, especially Science Fiction films.

If the price was right on this, I would buy the 3D edition of this movie. It's an excellent movie! Definitely a favorite.

I wouldn't mind a 3D re-release of Trek.

They would probably have a one week run and then the following week release it for the home video market. I think an ideal time would be before the release of a third instalment.

Assumming 'Into Darkness' meets all expectations. I'm down for a 3D marathon of 3 J.J. Star Trek films in the theatres if the opportunity comes.

I love the first crack it. To this day it's still my favourite movie of the last 5 years - maybe more. I would choose it ahead of The Dark Knight.

Still curious on what the 3D lens flares will look like.

I vote no. I'd rather the Abrams' Treks just sink into obscurity so we can all forget this ever happened.

This shit isn't Star Trek.

I'd rather Paramount spend their money more wisely on producing the high quality new reboot. George Lucas may happily continue to apply another 3-D veneer to his evolutionary Star Wars to add interest for Disney's Episode 7 but Star Trek is very fresh and new and still exciting for most of us devoted fans. No love lost on the Star Wars and Star Trek fan bases. Let's hope Hollywood becomes creative again with fresh new ideas and realizes the endless remakes of past hits and misses is beyond stale. IMHO, of course.
