Default Planet Earth picture pulsating BD-S300

Hey folks,

I've noticed on my BD-S300 while playing the Planet Earth Bluray that on some shots, the picture pulsates. Especially during a wide panoramic shot. I've also noticed it a bit on other movies, but thought it was my TV perhaps. However, I've recently subscribed to HD satellite and do not see this problem. So I'm convinced it is my Bluray player. Anyone else see this on their Sony? I have a 55" Sony XSRD 1080P TV. Using HDMI cable to the TV. I've also updated to the latest firmware that was released in October 2007.

Any thoughts?

Thanks for any info. Bluray forever!

It does it on me too. I use a PS3 though. I think its the footage. It only happens in certain scenes so its not the player or the tv. It is strange though. It looks like flicker white spot things. Like film grain but annoying.Very strange issue.

They are on certain shots. I know it is real bad I think on the first or second disc, there is a fly over of a huge waterfall it pulsates like crazy.

Everytime I read this I keep thinking people have the sharpness or the black level too high. (I have sharpness set to flat and the waterfall "pulsing" noise is very near the shadows, so my experience seems to be totally different)

Anyway, to confirm it is the disc and not the player nor the display, turn off any enhancement/NR circuits, and play a sequence that pulses in step/still and if you see the pulsing going "up and down"" as you step the frames, it should be the disc/transfer and not your player/display.

I have mine on a PS3 as well and it does the same thing especially during the scene where the camera is going down the river and to the waterfall.

Already been said in many other threads but the BBC has stated the pulsating noise in the picture is from the helicopter interfering with the camera.

Also, on slow scanning scenes - you may be seeing the jitter casued on 60Hz TV's, anyone out there see this on a 120Hz set?

Default Other players exhibit this also?

Thanks for all the replies guys, does this happen to all other players also? I've also seen this on the Departed Blu-ray, I guess I will just have to live with it, it is kind of irritating watching a perfectly crisp picture, then the pulsating starts to happen.....
