The Legend of Korra: Book One: Air Blu-ray

I did a double take when I saw a pre-order of this listed today

. I cant find anymore info about this release other than the amazon page. Heres hoping its true!

*edit 2.7.13* pre order for this vanished from amazon today. hopefully it will return.

Avatar was unfortunately produced only in standard definition (not 100% confirmed but 99% likely). So no BD release for it, sadly.

I'm unbelievably grateful to Paramount and Nickelodeon for giving this show a Blu-ray release instead of just DVD (like Warner does with Young Justice).

That said, if this release is meant to tie in with the next season of Korra, then we may not be getting new episodes until summer. Unfortunate.

I'll be buying this day one, i'm hoping for a very robust lossless 5 or 7.1 audio track and lots of behind the scenes/the making of stuff too! Love the show!

Is it really happening?? Tvshowsondvd.com only listed a dvd release. I hope that it comes out on blu-ray because the animation looked amazing in HD!!

Is it sad that I literally leaped out of my chair with excitement when I saw this up for pre-order?

I knew we were getting a DVD release, but to know a Blu-ray's coming's simply AWESOME.

My preorder is still active, but they probably just haven't cancelled it yet.

I'm not surprised, I thought a Blu-Ray release for The Legend of Korra sound too good to be true. We rarely get any cartoon series released on Blu-Ray, unless they are aimed at adults.

I'm still wondering if the series will actually get an anamorphic widescreen transfer on the DVD release, after they stuffed up Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles Forever.

A sad tease. But that is okay. I will be buying the complete season on Vudu in HD. It would have been nice to have a Blu-Ray release though.

Sometimes Amazon does this with pre-orders before putting up official product pages for items so don't lose complete hope, it still might come. There's really no reason they can't release the show on BD this time since it was produced and broadcasted in HD.

Except this was the official page (ASIN: B00BC0JCJW), there had previously been a placeholder page for several months (ASIN: B009LDCUVE).

exactly. my cable service doesnt even have nick in HD, and I could tell how great the episodes looked in SD. While watching it I kept thinking "man I cant wait till this comes out on blu ray so I can REALLY see it. why take the time to animate something in HD and NOT release it on blu ray.
