Quote:
Reality and video games merge in this high-concept sci-fi action thriller from Crank creators Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor. In the not too distant future, mind-control technology allows humans to control the actions and movements of other humans, allowing reclusive billionaire Ken Castle (Michael C. Hall) to create the ultimate video game. It's called "Slayers," and it's a mass-scale, multiplayer online first-person shooter that's as controversial as it is popular.
Similar to the "Hunger Games" theme?

Cameras used per IMDb:
Quote:
CameraArriflex 435
Red One Camera, Cooke S4 and Angenieux Optimo Lenses
No mention of 3D in technical production specifications (because it's a conversion).

I would rather have Crank, but I would give this one a go, but wouldn't pay much for it. I have the DVD but haven't watched it.

This and Crank just will not work in 3D, the editing is too quick for the 3D effect to work properly.....

You could be right there. Hopefully it looks good. I can think of some scenes that will look good though.

Would be interested in getting this. I'm surprised Bangkok Dangerous is getting a 3D release.

For taking time during a shot and staring into the layers of depth, this is true, but for getting three dimensions, fast cuts in 3D can work provided the depth is consistently at the same level of 3D with every fast shot. You can get MTV video fast cuts and still see strong 3D without any problem if they filmed the 3D or converted it right.

I enjoyed Gamer as well. Like posted above though, not sure about the 3D conversion.

I only managed to watch 10 minutes of this before switching off... but I'm keen to give it another go. If anything, just to see how the conversion job went.

Anyone have any idea what process they used to convert this?

They're using Samsung's proprietary 3D image processing technology.

Apparently this movie will become an example to which to judge the effective quality of the process.

I'd give it a go. The only part of Gamer I don't like is the cutaway scenes to the nasty fat guy. I'm not looking forward to seeing that in 3D, but the rest should be fun.

1st Gamer, then Crank & Bangkok Dangerous? Why? I'm sure there are much more popular films in their catalog they can make money on.

yeah i can understand crank but Bangkok Dangerous, who the hell wants that in 3d?

Heres a list of much better choices:

American Psycho
House of 1000 Corpses
The Devils Rejects
The Punisher
Alone in the Dark
High Tension
Cabin Fever
Lord of War
The Eye
Rambo
Repo! The Genetic Opera
The Last Excorsism

Hell i would buy all of those over Bangkok Dangerous, that would be an awesome collection of 3d flicks!

Though I don't expect much in return, I wanted to say I have emailed Lionsgate regarding the 3D conversions and whether or not we will be seeing a preview of the conversion technology in oppose to forcing people to buy on a whim or in faith of a websites review.

I’m inquiring on trailers for your upcoming direct to blu-ray 3d releases – will there be any posted or available for viewing, for example a 3d trailer for the rerelease of Gamer (better explained, a stereoscopic trailer – not a trailer that simply states the movie is coming in 3d)? I would love to see the 3d quality prior to purchasing the film, though not associated with you nor from what I read your technology, the conversion of irobot left a bad taste in a good amount of consumers mouths – I’m very curious to see what sort of depth and conversion the Lionsgate / Samsung team was able to provide.

If I have contacted the wrong department, would you mind forwarding this email on for me or please let me know who it is I would want to get in contact with?

Thank you for your time,

I'm not expecting much again, but meh - why not right?

Thanks for sending that I am happy thought that they have the 3d bluray going at 20 bucks though. Seems like a fair price to me and I'm hoping for the best from the conversion( I have a feeling it will be better than I robot, but maybe that's blind hope lol)
