Default New Blu-ray commercial was just on Fox...

I finally saw my first Blu-ray commercial when watching the Vikings, Eagles game. They advertised the following movies:

-Wedding Crashers
-The Pirates Movie's
-Live Free of Die Hard
-Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer
-Spider-man 3
-Talledega Nights
-300

This is a good sign to see some actual advertising for Blu!!! Maybe it's just me, but this was the first one that I've seen. And truthfully (not being biased), it was a very good commercial. The way it was presented was very nice. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come...

There have been a couple of them floating around. It seems like i see the disney one all the time. It is good to see though that they are getting more exposure.

ive seen alot of them. Like 3 different ones from Disney, Sony's Spiderman 3. If u have the Music High Defenition channel they play them quite often there. Its channel 332 on direct tv. The latest one from says if u want Disney movies in high def u can only get them on Blu-ray Disc. Disney is really steppin it up.

And since Fox and ABC are owned by News Corp and The Walt Disney Company respectively than it's free advertising.

In this mornings Best Buy ad, I noticed a Sharp Aquos Blu-ray player on sale for 499. Since I own a 32" Sharp Aquos HDTV should I trade in my PS3 for that player?

I would personally wait, unless you don't like the PS3. The Sharp player is 1.0 profile as far as I know and while I've heard it has fast startup time, I don't see much reason to go from a PS3 to it unless there is something else you are looking to get from it.

A Blu-bird in the hand...

Since you probably got your PS3 for $499, don't see what the upgrade would be--
And since the Sharp likely doesn't have 1.1 yet either(?), it's worth holding on to the more versatile player...For me, a week with my first 60G, and it's cooled all my previous urges to find a dedicated player.

I haven't seen the ad on TV. They did a good job in the Denver Post though, Sony FINALLY included an ad featuring Blu-ray, as well as other cool new gadgets.

The commercial was definitely amazing and all of my friends were like, "so, this Blu-ray thing is getting pretty big, huh?" I was like...."ugh....duh!"

I saw it during the Giants game as well. All the stuff everybody mentioned above, including Superman Returns. The PQ was great, and I think it did a good job of 'standing out' during an HD broadcast. If that makes sense...
