Default Hello Parasound C1 owners: question re music CD sound quality

I have the C1 controller and the A51 poweramp matched up with 5 Thiel MCS1's and a SS2 subwoofer; for DVD soundtracks the performance is just fantastic, but I'm finding the SQ from my music/CD player a bit underwhelming. There is no built-in "loudness" feature that would boost the bass/treble that I'm used to using on my older stereo components. Granted, my old Sony receiver can't hold a candle to the Parasound but for those of you out there who also use the C1 to listen to music CD's, what do you do to refine the tone? Did you buy equalizers, or is there some obscure feature on the C1 to alter the tone? I have gone into the menu and played around with the sub-woofer levels and bass/treble settings but its still seems a bit lacking. Any suggestions? Thx in advance.
