Germany Flesh+Blood (1985)

After the (according to reviews) disappointing French release and mention in the French thread about a possible German release, Koch Media confirmed that the uncensored version of Paul Verhoeven's Flesh+Blood is no more longer on the German index list. Meaning, Koch Media will release it for the first time to Blu-ray in Germany. Actual new rating and street date TBA.

I hope they will remaster this correctly and not just an upscale like Koch did with Cronenberg's Scanners.

I've never heard of this movie, and I love the 80's fantasy genre. The German digibook looks amazing! According to Amazon it will be in, both, German and English(DTS-HD MA 2.0), with German/English subtitles. A shame the book text won't be in English, but I'm serious thinking about getting this.
Will it be region locked?

It's not a fantasy -- it's a grimy, dark medieval piece, and some of it IMO is very hard to watch. If you're a Verhoeven fan and don't mind his excesses, I'd pick it up, but one viewing was enough for me (there are a couple of rape sequences in it). If possible, try renting it first as it's a YMMV type of movie.

Maybe you'll love it -- but I don't want you thinking it's something like CONAN, KRULL, THE BEASTMASTER, etc. It definitely ISN'T that type of film...

Thanks for the input. I like Medieval films just as much. I see Netflix has the dvd, but no BD(shocker). Yikes, they even say "not for the squeamish"
I'll keep an eye on it. I'd very curious to see what the book offers?

Where are the reviews!? Very interested to see if this beats the hdtv version. Hopefully it does if Koch put some money/time into it.

I don't think so, cause it also has English subs.

Got this in the post this morning. I've watched a few scenes and the PQ is excellent, light grain, plenty of detail.

English sound is stereo 2.0, sounds quite good.

Great movie IMO, with suberb score by Basil Poledouris.

Are any of the extras/commentary English-friendly?

McCrutchy, I didn't want you to be left hanging with your question. My disc of the non-limited edition arrived today. The order only took one week to arrive instead of the normal two weeks. Anyway, the only extras are a still gallery and the trailer in German and English....so the extras are English friendly. There was no commentary. IDK if there is a commentary on the limited edition version. An expensive digibook in a lanuage that I don't read or speak has no interest to me.
