Possibly the worst cover art I've ever came across, totally unrepresentative of the film. You'd think it was some bawdy comedy. One of the greatest of American films though, without a doubt.

Finally, a UK blu release for my favourite film. I'd be very excited about this if I hadn't already imported the region-free MGM disc when it came out over a year ago.

Tempted not to buy it due to the cover art. What were they thinking?

Love this film, could be packaged in a bin bag and I'd still buy it

How does the UK Fox disc compare to the US MGM disc as far as video and extras? Can't find any reviews for the UK disc online.

I finally got the UK disc assuming it was the same as the US. Seems to be almost the same. The same extras, same runtime, but the UK disc only has English audio and English subtitles. No Spanish or French like the US.

It made me think if there was a possibility that the UK version was cut or something, so it had to be a different disc than international ones.

But looking at the BBFC site, no information about cuts. Says it was passed uncut. Wonder why Fox decided to release a slightly different disc for the UK.

Neither disc has the original English mono mix? The UK disc mentions Dolby 2.0, but I'm guessing that is for the commentary track?

I actually ordered while there is an Arrow sale on for double points.

Never seen it but it's one of those where on the off chance I don't like it to the point I would happily sell it, there will be little/no loss for me. On the other hand if I do like it, it seems like a pretty definitive edition.

It get's very high praise, I did watch 10 minutes worth on YouTube, not sure how much I would like the whole though, could go either way. Like you say could always flip it if I don't like it.

It's one of those films I had never seen but instantly fell in love with. Very happy to double-dip even though the Fox disc is already pretty good. Apparently this new restoration is notably better, and the new extras and booklet make this a must-buy for me.

Was gonna pick it up at Zavvi for £19.99 (or less with a code) but would rather not risk them shoving it in a Jiffy bag - apparently they did that for The Thing LE. So instead I might use my reward points and get this from Arrow direct for only a fiver, since they're far more reliable shipping limited edition items and box sets (especially so close to Christmas).

I do fancy this, but ultimately I don’t think I need the book, so I think I’ll just wait for the inevitable standard version to drop into HMV’s 5 for £30 deal in 6 to 12 month time and get it for £6. £14 for a book I’d probably never read just seems like a bit of a waste for me, as nice as it looks.
