Default Are there any BD movies officially announced as DL or better codec than mpeg 2?

Hi All,

Basically the subj. Anything? So far whatever I see with specs is either SL/Mpeg2 which obviously isn't good enough for most of the movies, or specs are TBD. All that besides being frustrating, looks very stupid of Sony and whole BR gang in general.
Is there any concrete data suggesting that they're getting their act together @ some point? Ok, at this poin it doesnt' matter that much, but in a month or so when other players are out I wanna decide... And with crappy blus it won't matter how good of a player I am gonna get.

i've read rumors of "Black Hawk Down" being DL mpeg2

& that all Warner Bros. titles going forward are to be VC-1

nothing is concrete proof or announced by the studios yet.

CEDIA is next month. There will be nowhere for Sony to hide. I suspect will learn a lot more. I hope Sony gets the sh*t beat out of them for what they have provided us so far.

I was just about to pull the trigger on a Denon receiver but decided to wait with HDMI 1.3 just around the corner.

Hopefuly that will have some effect. Although, studios aren't dong any better, releseing BR movies in mpeg2. Isn't that their choice what codec to use?

I gave up on chasing latest and greaetst HDMI Got Pioneer VSX-84TXSi, at lest it works with all of my HDMI devices on HDMI 1.2 and i am ok with that for next 2-3 years...

I too will hold off on HDMI 1.3 before getting a new receiver. The Pioneer Elite I have now is rock solid, anyway.

Yeah, people say Black Hawk Down is too long to fit on a Blu Ray SL, so they say it must be DL...

Either that or they'll cut a chunk out the film.

Or go to H264/VC-1....!

Or encode it extra low quality.
