Metal Gear Solid The Legacy Collection PS3 Exclusive Coming Soon

Celebrating the 25th anniversary of the METAL GEAR SOLID franchise, this PlayStation®3 exclusive package will include METAL GEAR SOLID, METAL GEAR SOLID 2: HD Edition, METAL GEAR SOLID 3: HD Edition (which includes the original MSX versions of METAL GEAR and METAL GEAR 2), METAL GEAR SOLID: Peace Walker HD Edition, METAL GEAR SOLID: VR MISSIONS and METAL GEAR SOLID 4: Trophy Edition. In addition, the collection will also include two Ashley Wood digital graphic novels.

"We wanted to give METAL GEAR SOLID fans the opportunity to experience the series from beginning to end, all on one console," said Tomoyuki Tsuboi, President of Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. "With the collection's multiple titles, players can truly see how METAL GEAR SOLID evolved into the critically acclaimed and beloved franchise it is today."

METAL GEAR SOLID that is the one from 1998 ? If so i'll be getting this on day one , I already have the HD collection but would love to play MGS from 1998

You can already get it on PS Store if you didn't fancy getting the whole collection.

I alrready have every game here, so it would depend on Price, and fancy packaging to make me decide.

Have all them and still have MGS 1998 case for the Playsation but haven't played that in years , would also be depending on the price but i'd like to get the Ashley Wood digital graphic novels

Itchy, tasty. This renders last year's HD Collection pretty pointless, but it'll nice to have them all on one disc (especially the first one, which remains my favourite).

I agree if this was in the works then the collection was a cheap attempt at a cash grab..

Some sales figures have been released for the series to date too

Hideo Kojima's stealth-action franchise reaches new sales milestone.

More than 33 million Metal Gear Solid games have been sold to date, Konami announced today. This figure is up from the 31 million units announced during March 2012.

By comparison, the Halo franchise has sold 50 million units, while the FIFA and Call of Duty franchises have each sold more than 100 million copies each. The Madden NFL series has moved 99 million units.

Gamers who wish to get up to speed before Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes can pick up the Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection this June.

This comprehensive compilation pack includes a handful of installments in the series ranging from the original Metal Gear Solid to 2010's Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker.

Most likely a PSN download. When God of War Saga was released, the two PSP titles were downloads.

I will buy this on day 1 if every game is on disc if any of them are DLs from psn then I will not even bother buying it.

Same here. While this is one of the few series I try to collect every version, this is just a blatant cash grab.

Well, this might explain why the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection has silently gone OOP. None of my stores near me carry it and Amazon themselves no longer has it in stock. (It's only available through 3rd party vendors that's fulfilled by Amazon.)

Hopefully, I can pick this up sometime in the future.

Silicon Knights developed that version with having a contract with Nintendo. Though considered Silicon Knights has made games for Playstation and Xbox 360 since then, I think that contract expired. But I suppose neither Konami or Kojima Productions Developed it, so it's not really theirs even though Konami did at least Publish it.

It's sort of like the situation with Metal Gear Rising being Developed by Platinum Games.
