Default Fox Plans Blu-ray Bow For 'Wall Street'

Fox Plans Blu-ray Bow For 'Wall Street'

Fox has issued a retail announcement that Oliver Stone's Oscar-winning classic 'Wall Street' is headed to Blu-ray this February.

One of the most oft-quoted films of the '80s ("Greed is good!"), 'Wall Street' grossed nearly $50 million at the domestic box office back in 1987 (when movie tickets still cost $4 a pop) and earned star Michael Douglas an Oscar for Best Actor, making it one of Stone's biggest critical and commercial hits.

Hot on the heels of a recent '20th Anniversary Edition' DVD, Fox has just alerted retailers that it's planning to bring the flick to Blu-ray on February 5, 2008.

At press time, only tech specs were available, including Fox's usual 1080p video and an English DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 5.1 Surround track. The studio has set a suggested retail price of $39.98.

Sweet, "Wall Street" is a classic movie. I love it, easily one of my favorites.

Another sheen movie I like is "The Game".

Decent movie but I doubt I will get it. I love the part where Charlie Sheen puts in a music CD. The CD player is the size of a refrigerator. Old-skool!

Exclamation Beware!

One not-so-good review so far:

Home Theater Spot Review

Fox has been pretty good, but some of their titles are marginal.

For me it's a rent.

This film a rent? Never!

I appreciate that review and the fact that he reviewed the 20th Anniversary DVD as well. He - like so many - enjoyed the movie but once again declared the technical aspect of the BD release failing to deliver compared to other movies in the HD format. He states:

"My video ratings are based upon a comparative made against other high definition media/blu-ray disc."

He also stated this, which can be said for myself and a lot of other fans:

"I would recommend this to diehard fans as well as to any who don’t own any previous versions."

Well, on a plus side he did mentioned John C. McGinley being terrific as Marvin.

Nothing will deter me from buying. Whos still with me!

I am new here and I am a resident in Hong Kong. This is my first sharing here.

Strangely, I found that some new BD titles that are not out yet in U.S. are already available in Hong Kong. These includes the Santana's Hymns for Peace, Celine Dion's Les Vegas Live, and the Wall Street.

The Wall Street is out for more than a week in Hong Kong. But as you know, Hong Kong is a small market and they are U.S. products and it is strange that they are available in HK earlier.

I am happy that region code of HK is the same as US and Japan so I can view many great films. But in HK, High Def movies are still not very popular. Only the largest chain stores and a few shops are selling them. There are also very rare local products.
