It seems they are missing one important element. Price.

I don't understand the gimmick, is there any benefit at all besides going to a showtime "one day early"?

It mentions that buying a movie ticket includes a "code" to pre-order a blu-ray combo pack or HD digital copy. But what is the value of this code? $1? $5?

It would be nice if you pre-ordered the movie for $25 (or less), and that also included a movie TICKET. Unfortunately I doubt the deal is that good.

Well you do get a exclusive digital comic book written by Goyer. And fanboys get to see MOS early, price is irrelevant.

Will I do this? Probably, because I graduate the week prior to the screening, won't be too busy and I'm really excited for the movie(which is a little strange since Superman is my least favorite big time superhero.) but this is just the same as the normal late night Thursday night showing right? Except less convenient when buying a ticket.

Am I missing something?

Maybe for a small amount of Superman uber nerds they will line up regardless of price. So just getting to see a film 1 day early is a big deal to them. But the last film was pretty much a flop, so just in wider marketing terms it would make sense if there was some actual advantage to getting the ticket from Wal-Mart. Otherwise it's not a given that enough people will really give a damn.

For me personally, I would be all over deals that cross market blu-rays with a movie ticket. But if the plan is to charge full price for the movie ticket - and then another $20-25 for the blu-ray... not so much. 1 day early access isn't that enticing to me personally.

I guess I'm a Superman nerd (tho I don't own 2-4 ) because I will probably jump on this, not too "keen" about showing up at Wal-mart at 8am on Saturday, but I'm sure they'll be some later on, which will be "swell." but if the the code for the blu-ray is not that great, I may not bite. I can bet you anything the pre-order code won't be for a 3D copy.

I'll defintely be at wal-mart at 8 am to get some early screening tickets, but I won't be pre-ordering the blu-ray. Would rather wait for the inevitable steelbook announcements.

i got two tickets today, only $11 for a 3d showing almost $3 off normal prices. I can't wait! There is a code on the back for a blu-ray preorder for $26, but not in 3D, so I didn't get it.

I just found out that if you had gotten the advance tickets this past weekend at Walmart, you also got a code to watch online featurettes, and more importantly, a digital prequel comic.

Has anyone checked out the featurettes? Anything worthwhile? Also, how long is the comic prequel? I'm actually pretty interested in the comic. Does anyone know if this will be available some other way?

Was leaving walmart tonight and noticed that they have those pre order cards out for man of steel already. Much like the Hobbit, you get a special collectible "magnetic card" as it calls it, never before seen content, and walmart exclusive packaging. Anyone else seen this?

They must have put those out yesterday, I was @ one of the 3 Walmarts in my area on Sunday to get Premiere tickets & they had no pre-order cards.
