Hey all you TWD fans and haters of censorship out there in North America. Here is some great news for your fellow fans, outside of the borders of the USA and Canada: https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-W...Blu-ray/71528/ The Walking Dead Season 1 is finally available uncut on a Region B release!

Why now finally? FSK, the German ratings board, has finally given an 18+ rating to the uncut version of Season 1, that Anchor Bay released in North America and played on AMC in the US. TWD S1 was refused classification by the censors (which essentially means that it was banned in Germany due to excessive explicit violence in it's uncensored form). FSK initially told the distributor what cuts were required to make it pass the censors, and the chops were made (Link can be found further down in my rant... Shots of censorship contains spoilers). But they were applied to ALL REGION B DISCS... NOT JUST THE GERMAN RELEASE!

I might just purchase your copy (despite the possibility of a German language menu and no English subs), Besides, navigating the French menu's for the Caprica Blu Ray release was very easy. I would purchase the German version just so I can watch The Walking Dead Season 1 UNCUT on my Aussie PS3.

It would be nice to be able to view it uncut, without using my Step Down transformer required for my US BR player, what Australian cable censors deemed viewable, for mature audiences over 15!

Maybe now, the first step has been taken, which will lead towards a possible uncut UK/English version from Entertainment One.

Surprised that the rest of the world's DVD and Blu Ray viewers are watching a sanitised version! Censored by the distributor, for no good reason other than being cheap... (Despite many posts from me on this subject, trying to inform the public for those who are unaware).

Well, here is the story how TWD S1 had cuts for gore/explicit violence:

The DVD/BRD distributor for the rest of the world, for a long time, have been saying in communication with frustrated fans of TWD, that they would not release another transfer, that was uncut, which includes the 40 seconds of cuts that were made to please the German censors (otherwise Germany would ban The Walking Dead Season 1). Long story short: Entertainment One decided to make only one transfer, that contained the cuts for the German market, despite every other Region B market having no censorship issues with The Walking Dead Season 1! Why could they have not made either two transfers OR edit the scenes digitally for the German version... Which is probably what they did do anyway!

Therefore, people purchasing a copy of TWD S1 on DVD and Blu Ray outside North America have been watching a censored version of the show... With approximately 40 seconds of gore cut from the footage.

I have gone to great lengths to purchase a Region A capable Blu Ray player and then a US Region A player, so that I can enjoy TWD S1, the way it was meant to be viewed. Now I simply buy the Anchor Bay releases of TWD from the US. Thank you Anchor Bay.

However, I will probably purchase the German Region B copy, so I can lend it to my friends here in Australia and chuck it in and watch it on my PS3.
I fear that the Uncut German version of TWD S1 may be all we get in Region B lands.

I hope, beyond hope that Hopscotch Entertainment and E One will come to the party... Please release a UK/Australia, English language version of The Walking Dead Region B UNCUT.

How can this be: The most watched cable series ever is being viewed censored outside the US by fans watching on home video! It is a travesty. An overzealous censorship board and a cheap distributor has led to censorship of a critically acclaimed TV show, that alongside The Sopranos and other cable shows of high acclaim is a work of art... That has been censored.
The fans outside North America would like an UNCUT version of Frank Darabont's seminal work: The Walking Dead Season 1.
