Why does TNT have the spider man movies 1 and 2 in HD, Sony should have waited so that people would buy the trilogy. its on all the time w/ great PQ BTW

How come when HD movies are on HBO HD or TNT HD they don't have the black on the top and botoon like HD movies?

I have no idea about timing of TV vs BD release, but as far as the differences, the HD TV broadcast is very compressed compared to the BD version. The other differences are that the HDTV is only 1080i, whereas the BD is 1080p, and the black bar thing is because the BD is presented in the films original aspect ratio, as the director intended. On TV, even HD broadcasts of films, they usually crop out parts of the image to take up the whole screen.

yeah i've never really been a fan of most hd tv broadcasts compared to blu-ray. soooo compressed

I've compared by swapping back and forth on a few different titles.

The ONLY difference in PQ is that blu-ray lacks the compression artifacts and other effects that you see. Although I really don't see them very frequently anymore since switching to Verizon FIOS. Any that I do see certainly isn't enough to diminish my enjoyment of a movie.

Then don't buy the Blu-ray version. Browse the local listings, when you see Spiderman 3, flip to that channel and enjoy it since the pq won't diminish your enjoyment of a movie.
