Default If HD DVD wins the war...

Then what? Will Toshiba raise the prices on its players drastically? Or is the plan to lose money on every player sale indefinitley. I mean, why do they even want to win? What do they have to gain? If they are subsidizing every player sale and paying studios $150 million to support them, where is the profit. How could this ever be profitable for them? I dont get it.

Maybe they are getting paid per disc, same way Sony can sell the ps3 at a loss.

I don't know the answer, that's just the first thing that popped in to my head.

me either...I suppose that's the 150 Million Dollar question that only Toshi can answer.

M$ prob promised them shared revenues from all future digital downloads.

Toshiba is the creator of the DVD format so they get paid something for every disc sold. Not the players......the discs.....just like JVC gets or got a chunk of every VHS tape sold.

They won't be winning the war so I am not concerned with the business policies.

Exactly.

They can't and they know it. They're playing for a stalemate and to try and drag it all out as long as possible.
