USA Star Trek: The Stardate Collection (1979-2002) - September 10, 2013

Quote:
Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979) - When a destructive space entity is spotted approaching Earth, Admiral Kirk resumes command of the Starship Enterprise in order to intercept, examine and hopefully stop it.

Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan (1982) - With the aid of the Enterprise crew, Admiral Kirk must stop an old nemesis, Khan Noonien Singh, from using his son's life-generating device, the Genesis Device, as the ultimate weapon.

Star Trek III: The Search For Spock (1984) - Admiral Kirk and his bridge crew risk their careers stealing the decommissioned Enterprise to return to the restricted Genesis planet to recover Spock's body.

Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986) - To save Earth from an alien probe, Admiral Kirk and his fugitive crew go back in time to 20th century Earth to retrieve the only beings who can communicate with it, humpback whales.

Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (1989) - Captain Kirk and his crew must deal with Mr. Spock's long-lost half-brother who hijacks the Enterprise for an obsessive search for God at the center of the galaxy.

Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (1991) - On the eve of retirement, Kirk and McCoy are charged with assassinating the Klingon High Chancellor and imprisoned. The Enterprise crew must help them escape to thwart a conspiracy aimed at sabotaging the last best hope for peace.

Star Trek: Generations (1994) - Captain Picard, with the help of supposedly dead Captain Kirk, must stop a madman willing to murder on a planetary scale in order to enter a space matrix.

Star Trek: First Contact (1996) - Captain Picard and his crew pursue the Borg back in time to stop them from preventing Earth from initiating first contact with alien life.

Star Trek: Insurrection (1998) - When the crew of the Enterprise learn of a Federation plot against the inhabitants of a unique planet, Captain Picard begins an open rebellion.

Star Trek: Nemesis (2002) - After the Enterprise is diverted to the Romulan planet of Romulus, supposedly because they want to negotiate a truce, the Federation soon find out the Romulans are planning an attack on Earth.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's the current two Trek sets all in one package this time around. But if they were newly remastered and included both theatrical and SE's of select titles, that's pretty cool. I just picked up the current original crew set since it was on sale for $39 recently, and I'll be content with that.

Just a repackage of the films with some bonus content. It's already available in the UK. Check amazon

For all the $ this franchise rakes in, you would think we would get better transfers.

The UK usually gets pretty big custom amaray cases unlike us. I'd expect to see either a book-style, or slim cases for ours.

But yeah, that's one monster of a Blu-ray case

If that's true, given all the recent price discounts (like the target $10 deal), and the new individual releases, it sure seems to me like they are trying to milk the snot out of these. My gut tells me new transfers are coming......

This set won't have new transfers. And Paramount had nothing to do with Target's $10 price, that was a pricing/listing error. Don't expect any new transfers anytime soon.

I'd love to see newly restored transfers and directors cuts here via seamless branching or whatever, but my hope is low that it will happen.

so then the Star Trek Origins is probably just the original 6 movies. wow, Paramount is going hard with the double-dip here - releasing them as a set, then individually and now as a set again all within a few years.

Well, they gave all their films to Warner Bros to release. Their entire home video model is based on milking Star Trek now.

I do think that they should have just went all-in and included Star Trek 2009 and Into Darkness too.

Having just watched the Search for Spock bd, for the first time. They better or really need a new transfer on that bad.

New transfers for eight of the ten features, or it's a no-go.
