OK, folks I think we have an Elder Scrolls killer with this one! Completely gorgeous! Open world experience that's MUCH larger than any of the Elder Scrolls maps. This is going to be one hell of a game me thinks!! I don't know if it's a launch title or not but I'm going to have to add it to my must have list!

As far as gameplay, they're standard PC action adventure fair. You talk to a dude, he tells you to go to a dot on the map and then you get there and kill something. And, I guess, there's a story about some stuff going on.

I don't think calling it an 'elder scrolls killer' is fair tbh. They're similar yet different games. They both will be thoroughly enjoyable to play on the next gen. Skyrim was good, but it has bugs in it for some of the missions which meant I got stuck.
But I fully expect the next gen Elder scrolls game to be very nice for a SP experience and I also expect to fully enjoy the Witcher 3 for the first time. I think the best way to kind of explain it is that, Theif was the original amazing game, yet time forgot them and Dishonored popped along. The difference being here that Elder Scrolls made a comeback this gen, and Witcher also popped up pretty much at the same time. So they co-exist almost equally. I'd call it the Killzone-Halo situation, where both are seen like rivals for some reason or other. |

I suppose to a degree, that's ok because the 3rd game probably only takes the character and does away with all the 'old' elements from the previous games story so there isn't any deep connection to the older games beyond the main character. That's a good way to do it imo. Although still, I hope they do release a PS4 collection of the previous games cause they do seem worthwhile in story. The only thing I hope they do is overhaul the control schemes and stuff which are said to be outdated. Personally, I always feel that one day, games should be given a 'definitive' release of a game on a 'perfect' console. Where graphics etc. are no longer a concern because it is photo realistic and everything else is taken care of too. Pipe dream? Perhaps. But that's why they call them dreams ![]() |

Controls aren't outdated. Just some poor design decisions. Like your sword not actually hitting enemies caught in its arc in The Witcher 2. It only hits whatever you're targeting. The Witcher (1) has an odd rhythm based combat system.

I decided that I was going to go ahead and add this game, along with Elder Scrolls, to my PS4 pre-order.
I had an interesting experience with that. When I asked for Witcher 3 the GameStop clerk claimed it was an Xbox exclusive. I told him that I saw it advertised as a PS4, XboxOne, and PC release. He told me I saw wrong. He was adamant about it being for Xbox only. I was like okay, whatever. No big deal. There is a long time before the game comes out. Just thought I'd check to see if I could pre-order it. We'll see if it's Xbox only later on. So then I ask for Elder Scrolls. "Elder Scrolls online?" He asks. " Yeah." He then tells me that that game isn't coming for PS4 or XboxOne. He says it's for PC only. I told him that I watched the E3 conference and saw the game demonstrated there. plus, I have the advertisement for it coming to PS4 next spring bookmarked on my computer. I could tell he didn't really believe me with that one either. Same deal though. Oh well, no big deal, I don't have to order it now. Just thought I would if I could. I told him that I was going to look into and see if I can get some conformation on The Wither 3 being Xbox only. But unless both the videos in this thread are somehow faked, the game is clearly marked as coming to PS4. It seems somehow wrong that you go to a store specializing in video games, and they don't even know whats going on, Lol. Still, I'll give them a bit of a break considering it's all new stuff and the games are still quite a ways off. But at the same time, they shouldn't tell you they know something when they really don't. Last edited by Lovemy3D; 06-16-2013 at 09:13 PM. |

It definitely won't be an Elder Scrolls killer, but I'm sure it will be great! I have been into Elder Scrolls since Daggerfall, so I love the lore. Morrowind is the game that got me to really love my original Xbox with the realtime weather effects and combat. The one thing that hurts the Witcher for me is the lack of first person. I don't get the same immersion using 3rd person. Don't get me wrong, I will still play it, but they are different games.
