Cool Netflix/Amazon Prime Viewing Recommendations

I keep running out of good stuff to watch, so I bounce between Netflix and Amazon Prime. Does anyone have any good recommendations for those that subscribe to either service?

My Netflix recommendations (TV):
Sherlock
Breaking Bad
The Walking Dead
Archer
Star Trek The Next Generation
How I met your Mother

My Netflix recommendations (movies):
Warrior
The Machinist
Tucker and Dale vs. Evil
Captain America
Thor

Anyone have any good viewing suggestions from either service?

thanks,

I might have to give Grimm another chance.

I am caught up with AMC on Walking Dead (seen through season 3). I am 11 episodes in to the 2nd season of Breaking Bad, and am continuing to watch that.

Your netflix list is pretty similar to what I watch on there regularly.

This is what's in my rotation:

TV:

Lost
The Walking Dead
Louie
Futurama
Portlandia
Parks and Recreation
Phineas and Ferb
Regular Show
Adventure Time

Movies:

Paranorman
Video Game High School (discovered this recently and loved it. If you like video games, check it out)
Ip Man 1 and 2
Bernie
Rango

I have a trial to Amazon Prime for the month so I'm not super familar with what they have but I want to see what Downton Abbey is all about, and I'm going to check out Falling Skies as well.

Yeah, Breaking Bad is amazing. Season 3 is the best in my opinion, but they're all excellent.

I might have to check out Falling Skies. Last time I had Amazon Prime, I watched Farscape and Daria.

I just started a free trial on Amazon Prime and they have already won me over by having Are You Afraid of the Dark, one of my favorite shows growing up. They have a lot of classic Nick shows that I used to watch growing up.

That's so weird. That's actually the first show I watched on Prime with my trial

Unfortunately no.
Amazon Prime you can see what shows are offered without signing up.
For Netflix, you have to do the free month trial to see what they have, or find a friend on here and ask them if netflix currently has a show you are looking for. All the shows I posted in the first post are still on there.

i'm trying to decide which way to go. amazon seems to offer 3 or 4 seasons and any after that they charge for (pawn stars, cake boss).

i know netflix doesn't have shows from history though.

My Netflix recommendations (TV):
Star Trek The Next Generation
Having already finished Star Trek: Enterprise, I'm moving back through the other two post-Next series nobody ever noticed--
Y'know, I don't think I ever really DID watch Deep Space Nine for more than half a season, but all the characters are coming back to me now.

Stuff in the queue of a guy who knows what he's talking about:
TV:
- Mythbusters
- Twin Peaks
- Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (Brett)
- The Dick Van Dyke Show
- Ken Burns' Baseball
- Columbo
- Cheers
- Classic Doctor Who

Both offer free month trials. Do one free for one month, then the other free for the next month - then go with whichever you like better.
Both do get new shows, but they don't get them extremely often - maybe once or twice a month.

Or you can switch between them (which is what I do) - I carry netflix for a couple months and watch whatever I want until I exhaust the library, then switch to Amazon Prime.

Netflix seems to have a overall better free catalog (Breaking Bad and Walking Dead were pay on Amazon last I checked), but with Amazon Prime you get free 2 day shipping.

I don't know about history, but I do know netflix carries some Discovery channel stuff like Mythbusters, Deadliest Catch, etc....

i already have amazon prime, just wondering if it would be better to buy the seasons we want to watch or get a monthly subscription to netflix.

that's why i was wondering if there's a list of tv shows netflix offers so i can see if they have enough that'd we'd watch to make it worth our while.

check out instantwatcher.com, you can see everything listed broken up genres, or popularity. It shows what was just added, what others are watching, etc. You can even add things to your queue or start playing movies from the site.
