Default Why are so many BD's delayed? And why is Amazon.uk the last one to know?

I don't know, must have been the seventh time this year that I pre-ordered a BD at Amazon.uk and 4 to 0 (!) days before release, the release date changes sto "we don't know when of if it'll be back in store ...." ("back"? It never WAS in store!)

Why can't Europeans get BDs????? The amount of available discs is extremely small compared to the US ... and imports are just expensive, not just due to p&h, but mainly due to import taxes!
Well, at least it doesn't look better with the "other" format, hehe ...

I would have loved to get "Planet Earth" on BD on Monday ... alas, no deal ...

I import the majority of mine from the USA. The majority of BDs currently being released are relatively new movies and the studios want to give cinemas enough time to make money before releasing their titles for sale or rent.

There are also a number of titles available in Europe before the USA and include The Rock, Pans, Con Air but to name but a few.

Unfortunately, there are titles announced in the US (Battle of Britain, A Bridge Too Far, etc.) that get pulled or moved out weeks, or months, later. I suspect part of the problem is that the film companies don't want to release shoddy product. Even tru-Blus on this site will let them know when they've released poorly transferred movies on Blu. And for you folks, it's probably Region coding that also has an impact.

It's just the nature of the beast when an entirely new technology gets underway, there are bound to be delays and miscues and problems arise.

Fortunately, I have so many titles now to watch and on order that I won't get them all viewed by the end of this year, anyway.

(But I do feel your pain...)
