I have both Genesis SACD box sets and they are fabulous. My first experience with this format and with a proper 5.1 system it adds a whole new dimension of listening. Here's another link for the disks, pick your part of the world.

if you are in NA, then make sure you order the sets with SACD and the region 1 (NTSC) dvds; careful because there are a few permutations out there, incuding the lame Dolby-Digital only US version from Rhino music (is it Rhino?) Anyway - hearing trick of the tail remastered in ho-rez 5.1 is amazing! hearing Duke (on of my modern Genesis favorites in 5.1) is even better. i recommend: www.acousticsounds.com. a little pricey, but great SACD selection. bought both box sets for $150 each. anxiously awaiting the 3rd which will have the BEST of genesis, including foxtrot, nursery crime, and the lamb. --- and if you're a moody blues fan, you can also pick up their excellent SACD collection. |

I just recently sat down and listened to Eric Clapton's Slowhand. Very nice - rock and a bit bluesy. This album like a few other 5.1 mixes root Clapton's vocals firmly in the center channel.
If you're crazy like me, you'd listen to the album once with ONLY the center channel on. Very interesting way to listen to music with just the vocals and the thumping of the bass! fuad |

I can't imagine that if they went through all this trouble to remix the studio cd's to 5.1 SACD that a blu-ray release of the 2007 tour would not be in line. Although in a recent email from Steve Hackett's site there was no mention of a blu-ray version.
>"The album pre-empts the release in February 2008 of "When In Rome - Genesis Live 2007" - the DVD of the complete concert, plus full length documentary and behind the scenes footage filmed on the road."< The set list for the cd looks great but rather surprised nothing from "Stations" made it into the concert. I still have a laser disk from their '87 tour that according to the cover info, was recorded in hi def. I'd like to see that make it to blu also. I was really put off with their last live dvd ('92 tour) that was shot on video - really looked cheap. |

Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon Miles Davis - Kind of Blue Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms Mark Knopfler - Shangrila The Who - Tommy Moody Blues - days of future passed Moody Blues - in search of the lost chord Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of the War of the Worlds Genesis -- 1976 and on (both box sets) Elton John - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road Norah Jones - Come Away With Me ...to name a few, which are all excellent on SACD. (I may have some of those titles not exactly correct). It may be too late for SACD, but good to see people are discovering it. |

Another recomendation for the box sets. The sound is spectacular and adds a whole new dimension to the songs. Even listening in stereo is a whole new experience. The DVD extras are also pretty great. A Trick of the Tail is my favorite remaster. SACD really makes the acoustic guitars of Ripples shine.
The current tour should be out on Blu. It was a great show (Giants Stadium for me) but not one for the casual fan. LOTS of older songs and only a smattering of "hits". If you're surprised the nothing from Calling All Stations made the tour, imagine how shocked I was that nothing from Abacab was played, while Invisible Touch had five songs played. |
