Cool Box Office Showdown! | 8/2-8/4 | 2 Guns, Smurfs 2, Wolverine

We haven't had one of these in a couple weeks, and with August starting, I figured it would be time to do another!

2 Guns (2,800+ theaters)
An elaborate scam has a DEA agent (Denzel Washington) and an NCIS agent (Mark Wahlberg) investigating one another in belief that they are stealing money from the mob. But when they realize that they were set up by the CIA, they must work together to return the money and stay alive.

Previous Info:
Washington - Flight (2012)
Opening Weekend: $24.9 million
US: $93.8 million
WW: $68 million
Total: $161.8 million

Wahlberg - Pain And Gain (2013)
Opening Weekend: $20.2 million
US: $49.8 million
WW: N/A
Total: $49.8 million

The Smurfs 2 (3,400+ theaters)
Gargamel, now a celebrity sorcerer, creates The Naughties (smurf-like creatures), hoping to harness magical Smurf essence. Using his new creation, he kidnaps Smurfette and takes her to Paris. Papa, Clumsy, Grouchy, and Vanity transport, using magical crystals, to the real world and seek their friends Patrick and Grace Winslow and their son, Blue to help rescue Smurfette. Features a live action performance from Neil Patrick Harris and voice over work from pop sensation Katy Perry.

Previous Info:
The Smurfs
Opening Weekend: $35.6 million
US: $142.6 million
WW: $421.1 million
Total: $563.7 million

I'm hoping that 2 guns will do better than the smurfs 2 but I think 2 guns will come in second.

I'm predicting the smurfs 2 $50 million
2 guns $33 million.

2 guns looks fun, but I doubt it will outperform Smurfs 2.

I feel like they've been advertising 2 Guns for a year so I'll go with that.

The Smurfs 2 will dominate because it's been nearly a month since Despicable Me 2 and poopy "farting CGI critter" movies like this always make bank.

, Denzel has never been an $80 million opening weekend guy...Smurfs are going to crush him . EDIT: I swear that I was thinking about CZAR as I posted, and now I see he voted for 2 Guns. Very predictable CZAR...very predictable.

Smurfs - $37 million
The Wolverine - $19.8 million (Could drop more... Apparently not enough stuff goes "Boom," and a city isn't destroyed for 45 minutes.)
2 Guns - $16 million
The Conjuring - $10 million
Despicable Me 2 - 9.9 million

Oh you just have to go with the kiddie film here. I bet Smurfs opens to like 48 million. Although my brother and his wife aren't letting their kids see it cause they hated the first one and are seeing PLANES instead!

I shall be seeing Wolverine and 2 Guns myself. Wait a few weeks on Smurfs.

Smurfs 2 should lead ... Still haven't seen the first one, though. As a small kid I loved the Smurfs TV-series. And when I was a bit older I loved the comics, they were smart, sharp and about big themes in life, without losing the many jokes for alduts and children. This could have been all of that in a movie ... instead ... well, look at the trailers. Meh.
