I just redeemed my Django Unchained digital copy through vudu. It redeemed fine and is in my collection in HDX but it is not showing up as an UV title like the slip says. As a result it won't add to my uvvu.com locker and I can't share it with my mother (shared member).
I searched but don't see this mentioned anywhere else. I sent vudu an email but haven't heard back yet. I also tried to redeem through flixster but now the code says it has been used. Not sure what to do to get it straigtened out. Any ideas? |

It was UV. It was UV-enabled on Vudu when I bought so it shows in my uvvu.com and flixster. But the UV-logo is missing from its Vudu page (even when I'm logged in) which suggests they somehow lost the rights or something's broken. Contact Vudu support and put in a ticket. Hopefully, they'll fix it soon.

I wonder why yours has it. Mine doesn't and neither does the other poster. Did you preorder or anything (Wal-mart?). Perhaps that has something to do with it? |

It's definitely supposed to be UV-enabled, and mine, which I redeemed through Vudu, is currently showing up as being UV. It's also showing up in my UV locker and other services that are connected to my UV account (Flixster, CinemaNow).
The UV system has a lot of hiccups and issues. I love the idea of it, but it hasn't been implemented very well. There are flukes like this more often than there should be, not to mention that rights issues are always rearing their ugly head with the different providers (causing titles to come and go sometimes). It's the type of thing that might sort itself out within minutes, hours, or days, but trying to contact Vudu is a good place to start. |

Clearly something is messed up as others like yourselves have it in UV but I do not. I just received this reply:
Greetings xxxxxxxx; Thank you for contacting VUDU customer care. The movie Django Unchained is not available for the UV transfer and for future references not all movies are available for UV transfer. It must contain a UV symbol on the VUDU.com website for it to be available for transfer. If you have any other questions or concerns don't hesitate to call VUDU customer care. VUDU is open 7 days a week,7am to 8pm Pacific time. Best regards, Richard VUDU Customer Care 1-888-554-VUDU (8838) support@vudu.com Follow us: blog.vudu.com http://www.twitter.com/vudufans http://www.facebook.com/vudufans The slip in the case clearly labels it as UV as well but vudu does not. Who knows what they will do now. |

contact vudu, has to be an issue on their end, only thing I can think of if you redeemed it today is sometime in the last week or week and a half vudu themselves may have lost the UV rights and if you redeemed now you're screwed until vudu gets them back, and if you redeemed before it's still UV cause maybe they can't take that away once redeemed UV (I may be wrong on that)........

Well after a few emails this was their response...
Hello and Thank you for contacting VUDU customer care, The content is no longer uv compatible. We recently lost the licensing rights for films by this movie company. The content will be available for you to watch on VUDU but the content is no longer Uv compatible. Terribly sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused please feel free to contact us with any further questions and concerns! Best regards, Jerryn J. VUDU Customer Care 1-888-554-VUDU (8838) support@vudu.com I'm not sure if they finally came to this conclusion on their own, or because I had suggested that this might have been the reason why. This whole thing with movies being UV and then non-UV is really ridiculous. If the studios want this to last they need to be consistent and permanent with their products. This is just one main reason why I can't see myself going to a completely digital movie library ever. Once it's in the cloud you no longer have control of your content. |

Looks like that is indeed the case. Other Weinstein Company films including Silver Linings Playbook and Killing Them Softly are not showing as UV anymore either.

Same goes for music. I want my physical CD which is mine and cannot be taken capriciously by some studio exec. And we won't even mention the quality differences between physical media and streaming services. Streaming has its place in the spectrum (portable, useful on small screens/portable audio players) but IMHO will never replace physical media in terms of peace of mind of ownership and quality of the video/audio. |
