I'm neutral and think both have good points, so I'm not taking sides but both sides post a ton of FUD.

This is a excellent forum but there is a ton of Blu-Ray FUD posted here also, with very few links to back up their claims.

I would like for everyone to stop being so fervent about their preference in the format war and stick to provable facts.

I think every forum has to put up with frequent troll postings, at least everyone I've seen has them and they come from both sides of the fence.

It makes it very difficult to decide what is real or just more of the same often repeated FUD.

We should be here to learn and celebrate our love of high definition not attack each other's choices and lower ourselves to outright mis-information and personal attacks, we should all be better then that!

Keep it up. These next two months are going to be the most crucial in this America-based format war.

This holiday season is going to make or break HD-DVD. The more people you try and convince before X-mas the better.

I don't care much about the FUD spewing HD DVD fanboys. They are only fooling themselves. What bothers me are FUD filled pro HD DVD articles that always seem to appear at critical moments in the HD DVD campaign. Currently, we are seeing biased network news articles, a new article from that loser Rob Enderle, the Universal CEO doing his fantasy math thing again... etc... These articles can certainly confuse and fool consumers who doesn't know much about the formats. The lies these people are spewing are outright disgusting, and all to promote a failure of a format.

Attack each thing they say as a separate point... do not skip ANYTHING. Do not spread FUD about them either or you look bad. Use LINKS on every topic and never use Wikipedia. Be polite or you WILL be banned. See their side, but show them the true Blu light! Being rude will get you no where.

this is a BLU-RAY page not a HD lets all be buddys page
the past 3 or so weeks this page has gone from a place were fans of Blu-ray talk
to a place were we get attacked with BS and FUD every day
it all started with the cheep players and crap i miss my old "blu-ray.com"
this war is the worst thing to ever happen to HD movies
i realy fear that if it dose not end soon we will get all shafted with down loads

I really think we would not have been this far along with title releases if it wasn't for the war. DVD didn't have nearly this many after 18 months in the U.S. The competition is driving both sides to lower prices and release every top title as fast as they can.

Maybe you can't have every movie if your hard-core, but you have a much bigger selection than we would have ever seen with only 3-5% market share.

PS3 has to be priced as a gameing system and war or no war $600 is a LOT for games

no software has gone down as well.

if Transformers was not exclusive, there would not have been the BOGO that week.

And I belive that the 99 buck players are going to squize the BD players.

IMO, and speaking as a format-neutral, it's been a great thing. Competition has forced both HD-DVD and BD to improve their product, speed product to market, and lower prices.

All good for the BD consumer, like myself.

I agree for the most part. However, I do think that you would agree it is unfortunate that many uninformed shoppers who purchase the A-2 are under the assumption that it will play any HD media. This is the worst part about the war. Most of us on these boards were educated about the choices we made, but for the average guy who relies on each paycheque and splurged on the $99 player, it has to suck to find out it doesn't play 60% of the movies out there.

All the ignorant sharks that pervade the forums spreading FUD only serve as points of reference for the misinformed.

I almost want to block any references to MSNDC, Time-Warner, or Ziff Davis media outlets. The amount of FUD from these places is astonishing. Sensationalist trash that whips consumers into a feeding frenzy.

Did you not watch DVD hardware and software prices plummet over the last 7 years, without anything resembling a format war? My first player was about $900. It could play movies in lovely 480i, and output 2 channel stereo. My last player cost about $70 and could upconvert to 1080p, decode all available digital codecs, was slimmer and of a higher build quality than my first ever player.

The format war will not bring us lower prices on this scale. Lower prices come from mass adoption over time. And that only happens after one of these formats dies off.

So where does it say we can't be intelligent and use well thought out points in our debates over the different format pros and cons?

And could I suggest you slow down and proof read your spelling and sentence structure before hitting submit.

I know you probably got overly excited and in a hurry to post, but just slow down a tiny bit and your opinions will be easier to understand and possibly agree with.

I do agree when Trolls from opposing formats come onto a forum to start trouble and spread FUD, it is really aggravating, but that happens everywhere.

Not trying to pick a fight, but just trying to help make this discussion better for everyone.

I agree with Dadds that price isn't the only issue. I was reading your forum for months before I got my blu-ray player and price was not the final arbiter. Unfortunately a lot of the techno babble goes over my head - but I love movies, rent a lot from blockbuster and wanted to get the most from my hdtv.
I really feel sorry for the people who ran out to get a $99 hd player for thier 720p tv...

What the hell does FUD mean? I've been on this site awhile but I don't know what it means. Whatever it is, hopefully it's about run it's course, because seeing it in so many posts in so many different threads is getting played out.
