Smile Give a little more credit to the BDA

The BDA should do this, the BDA should do that on so on and so forth. Frankly I am getting a little tired of these threads. Don't get my wrong it thrills me to read threads from people who are interested and committed to the format war, but we should give a little more credit to the BDA.

Through my work as an auditor I have come to know many leaders in different firms and most are not as stupid as we may think. Sometimes people are writing about the BDA as they are a bunch of paralyzed people that doesn't know how to run this.

After SONY released the PS3, Blu-ray has been able to generate more than enough software sales to keep up with sales from HD-DVD and even surpass HD-DVD with a 2-1 margin. Because of this the BDA has been able to maintain a higher price for there standalone players than HD-DVD, which has lead to an ongoing influx of companies developing, announcing and releasing stand alone Blu-ray players. HD-DVD has been around for over 1.5 years now and they still haven't been able to get any other major company to support HD-DVD other than Toshiba. I would be very worried if I where in there camp, and with HD-DVD prices dropping even further no other company would be able to make any money from a HD-DVD player.

I am pretty sure that the BDA knows more about what's going on in this war than we do. I would like to see $99 Blu-ray players too, but they will come. I am pretty sure that the BDA will do what is best for the supporting companies and Blu-ray.

Thanks for you're time…

I personally think the rest of the manufacturing companies are leaving it to Sony, Fox and Disney to push BD. They really need to step up to the plate and offer free BD players with their LCDs this Christmas just as Sony are. The more people see different companies pushing BD players the better. Where is Panasonic, Sharp, Philips and Samsung in all of this. They are far too quite for my liking.

I think everyone is freaking out too early.. again. The war will not end this year. We will see what happens next year, but it is likely 2009 will be the end. If there is no clear winner by then, who knows what will happen. But I for one will not give up, and will be patient.
The BDA knows what its doing, and I am sure their strategies will be effective.
A $99 is not feasible right now, but I think a $299 player would be at the right spot.

I agree with you Iron Man. I've never seen so many weak minded sheets in the wind as I have seen here lately. It's hard to find real news from all of the self imposed doom and gloom created by our own members. Read the REAL NEWs provided by JOSH and other MODs. If there is important news, they will provide it.
