Sony Computer Entertainment will livestream a translated version of its Japanese PlayStation press conference on Monday, September 9 at 7am BST / 2am ET, it's confirmed.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Sony will announce its Japanese PS4 launch plans during the event, but the translation and livestream news could suggest further news with relevance to the global audience. The latest Sony press event comes ahead of the 2013 Tokyo Game Show, which is set to take place between September 19 and 22. http://www.computerandvideogames.com...nd-translated/ Sony Promising The News We've "Been Waiting For" Tomorrow Watch live here http://www.ustream.tv/channel/sceja-...erence-english ![]() Sony are set to reveal something big tomorrow morning at their pre-TGS conference, something that they’re describing as “the news you’ve been waiting for” along with the above image that they shared through their Chinese social media service. They go on to say that this new information will be “beyond your expectation” and promise a good dose of “surprise”. More than just a Japanese PS4 release date, then. The full statement reads: Quote:

I don't know, this is TGS after all. I think, "The news you’ve been waiting for" could easily be Japans Launch date since Japan has not been announced yet and this is taking place in Tokyo, Japan. And "the information beyond your expectation", might just be something simple like the actual launch date?
I.e. what if all they mean is that Japan will get the PS4 in Oct 31? or that they will say that the PS4 will have Nasne. |

It would have to be, I'd think? Sony has all but confirmed they'll announce a JP launch date by TGS.
They've had the luxury of basically not needing to say anything much about Japan thus far until they got their ducks in a row regarding NA and EU. The Wii U is still dead in the water, and Microsoft isn't even launching in Japan until 2014 at the earliest. In any case, it'll be interesting to see what they have cooking from the Japanese side. It's a new console generation and thus far the only next-generation (PS4/XB1) projects we really know about from the many Japanese developers are from Capcom (Deep Down, Dead Rising 3 for XB1), Square-Enix (Final Fantasy 14 Online: A Realm Reborn for PS4, FF15, Kingdom Hearts 3), Konami (Metal Gear Solid V), and Access (D4 for XB1). We have nothing from Bandai-Namco, Tecmo-Koei, Sega, or Atlus, and we've heard little to nothing from some of the more notable third party JP developers like From Software, CyberConnect2, Grasshopper Manufacture, Platinum Games, Level-5, Marvelous, Tri-Ace, etc. While not every one of these companies will be on the next generation train just yet, it defies belief that none of them are working on next generation titles. Ok, ok, Platinum is busy doing stuff for Wii U. But the point still stands. |

Absolutely 100% PS4 related.
Release date and Japanese line up will be announced at the event with the games playable at TGS. I expect a late December launch in Japan. They will just sneak it into 2013 with limited stock and one big Japanese focussed title just so they can say Japan got it in 2013 with the rest of the world and can't be accused of ignoring their domestic market. |

If Max says PS4 related that's good enough for me, but it did seem people were jumping the gun. |

I was not making a guess as to the launch date, but only to the fact that the news might be anticipated and "surprising" for the Japanese and be important for Japan but be meaningless for the rest of us. I just hate when people get way over excited, like you see in this thread with people saying what they want and what would be big news for them, and then, no matter what the news is, they end up here complaining after the fact because it was no where near as big as they dreamed. |
