Default !Pixar Shorts!

Whenever I get to the menu screen for my copy of the Pixar short films, I can't do anything. Nothing happens when I press the left or right buttons, nothing when I press play, nothing happens except when I press stop. I have updated my firmware as much as possible. Any ideas? Could it be just my player/copy of the Pixar Shorts?

Edit: Ok, I guess I missed the 3.2 firmware update. I am sure that it will make a difference once I get it loaded.

Seems fine here with a PS3. Play didn't do anything for me though. I had to hit "enter" with the Play All highlighted. Oh, I can move around the menu to select other options also.

Default Pixar Shorts/Samsung 1200 problem

Has anyone tried playing the Pixar Shorts BD on the Samsung BD-P1200? Mine plays fine through the opening previews, but locks on title 3, apparently trying to load the java menu. It's been sitting with a blank screen for about 45 minutes now. I have the latest firmware (from Oct 9th), and other Disney BD's load and play just fine.

Thanks

Knew I wasn't alone! I posted the exact same issue over in the 1200 review thread and my symptoms are identical to yours.

Have you tried Ratatouille or Cars? My copies are arriving today and tomorrow so I've been unable to test these.

Just tried Cars and Rat, and they both start up and play fine. Both menus comes up after about a minute, and from there, all submenus, features, and the movie come up without a hitch.

For kicks, I tried the shorts disc again, and nothing different from before. Previews, FBI screen, all come up fine, but then it sits after that at title 3 0000.

Likely resolved with a firmware upgrade.

Default Pixar shorts playing issue?

Hi Everyone,
perhaps this is my first defective BR Disc?
I put Pixar shorts into my Samsung 1200 with latest firmware & all plays well until the piracy warning then nothing happens it just stays at chapter 3 0000
until I open the drawer. I unplugged the player then tried again same thing.
Anyone else experience this problem?
thanks,
Dave

Might be a defective disc unless someone else can confirm they are not having problems with the same player/film.

Mine stalled at the same point on my BDP-S300. I just waited it out though. It took at least a minute (maybe more) and then started playing. Good luck!

Question, is this true or happen with this stand alone player? On a PS3, movies boot up right away. Seems like I hear stories on the stand alone's that they can take forever to load?

Yep, this is the usual BS. Did you speak to a level 1 or level 2 tech?

Regardless, the only way this will be resolved is for many people to lodge the same complaint. I'll get off my a$$ tomorrow and give them a ring.

Donovan, I would respectfully suggest you do the same. Don't take "no" for an answer and don't let them give you some vague "We'll get around to it" stuff. Insist on speaking to a level 2 technician and make sure he/she knows that this is not unique to your player and that folks are complaining about this issue in a large user forum - probably more than one large user forum.

Squeaky wheel theory and all that...

There's an existing thread on this already, in the Players subforum. Perhaps the mods can close this thread and merge with the original.

Best advice right now is calling Samsung, get to a level 2 tech, and let them know that this NEEDS a fix. Also, Disney has an 800 number for technical assistance, printed on the disc, and it certainly couldn't hurt to let them know about it as well.

I'll be on it tomorrow. Also, since Disney has an 800 number for technical assistance, it certainly couldn't hurt to call them up and apprise them of the situation. Maybe they might be able to put some pressure on Samsung as well.
