I already bought the US blu ray before it was in the UK cinema. So I won't be getting the steelbook.

I had a feeling it would happen and I was right.

Limited to 1000 copies, I don't care, I will get it.

Loved this movie.

I predict these will go on sale for £23 and quickly sell out.

Then they will magically appear on Zavvi's ebay page for £28.

Anyone else think the same.

I think Zavvi is realising that people are starting to slow down on steelbook collecting. And they have over saturated the market and their own titles, so they're losing customers and having way too much overhead. So this makes sense, I hope all future releases are down to 1000 or 2000.

Given they are already pricing 2D new release steelbooks at £17.49 (Olympus has fallen, Byzantium etc) compared to around £14.99 for the normal version I can see this as an excuse to push up the price as well. Somewhere £20+

The lower edition size also shifts the stock quicker so they don't have money tied up. There are an increasing number of the back catalogue steelbooks they are having to price cut. These seem to either sell out pre release or are around for ages.

If its truly limited to 1K, then theres no reason not to charge the higher price from the start....knowing they will sell out...

I agree with this one. Got the US BD a while ago, quite a good little flick IMHO and will probably be a very popular Steelbook.

1000 copies, so then there's still atleast 3000 copies that's coming out on other markets than the UK.
Hope this is the effect (and that it feels in their pockets) of what they have done to the Steelbook collecting community

Can they find 1,000 people who want this?

This will seriously be dependant on price as to whether I buy it

And how many copies do other Zavvi releases have?

Hint: less than you think

They can sell something that usually has 2k copies, but say "limited to 2k copies", and now you have stupid people rushing for it even though it's literally the exact same as always
