United Kingdom White House Down - January 20th, 2014

Sony Pictures will be bringing Roland Emmerich's 'White House Down' to Blu-ray on January 20th, 2014.



The movie stars Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx.

''While on a tour of the White House with his young daughter, a Capitol policeman springs into action to save his child and protect the president from a heavily armed group of paramilitary invaders''.

The release will include an UltraViolet digital copy.

why are some versions running 137mins and others 131mins? even in uk version theres 2 running times?

Due to differences in frame rate between the US NTSC spec and UK PAL spec, SD versions of American (NSTC) content run 4% quicker in the UK. HD TVs and Blu-ray players have removed the need for the 4% speed up, so the blu-rays are generally at the same speed for both the UK and US.

This is why most American players cannot handle 1080/50i content, as it is in a PAL compatible frame rate, rather than an NTSC compatible frame rate. However, most European players are compatible with both frame rates.

The 137 minutes is the correct American/Blu-ray running time, 131 minutes is the running time for sped up version. The BBFC generally classify DVDs so they're likely to have the PAL running length listed.

(Sorry, I don't think I've explained that very well.)
