From the creator Mamoru Oshii, the director Hiroyuki Okiura, and the staff who brought us “Ghost in the Shell,” one of anime’s finest achievements is beautifully re-mastered as next generation disc!

SYNOPSIS:
Set in an alternate history Japan in the 1950s, the story unfolds around Kazuki Fuse, a member of the military police force, who shutdown his human side for his duty. It develops into a psychological drama of Fuse who is torn between love and his loyalty to the Wolf Brigade.

I have a recommendation though to everyone, if you're not already doing this.

Go to Google and type in "Blu-ray" in their "news" section. You should see an option for "Google Alert". I do this and I love it, because I'll get 4 or 5 emails a day with alerts of news articles that have anything to do with blu-ray.

Makes it easy. Between that email and this website (which rocks by the way) , I don't feel I miss much of anything.

I enjoyed this movie, thanks for the info. Going to have to buy this one.

Also hope Ghost in the Shell (the movie), Akira and Princess Mononoke comes to Blu soon.

I have the Japan version of Jin-Roh. Picture quality is an improvement over the DVD. US version seems like a better deal since they took out the DVD copy and replaced it with the nice storybook and other goodies. Kind of regret getting the Japanese version...might double dip :/

Also, GitS 1 and 2 are both available on Blu from Japan with English subtitles for those interested.
Akira should hopefully be out sometime next year.

As for anime, I am a big fan. I havent seen this one yet, so I'll rent it for sure.

Just an FYI, since Bandai Visual had to switch distributors this will only be available from www.rightstuf.com and www.dot-anime.us in the beginning. It's not being solicited for a general retailer release, yet.

GitS 1 is a bit of a lemon PQ wise, so I'd wait and see if it gets fixed for a US release before spending the import money.

Thanks. I liked the movie, it thought it was ok ...even though I've seen it 3 times and I'm still confused about some stuff. Maybe the Blu version will help me understand stuff a bit better.

I know what you mean, but people that got the japanese version say is a big dissapoinment and the transfer is not really an improvement from the DVD version.

And Jin Roh is a really good movie, but is old i so dont think is going to look pretty guys. I'll wait for the reviews, i just bought BDZ the brolly collection and wow did they **** up the sound on it. I still have the VHS japanese versions with subs, much much better audio, but the picture is somewhat of an improvement.

Bandai Visual charges way too much for their movies.. I am still kicking myself for paying what I did for Wings of Honneamise, even though it is a bonafide classic. Jin Roh on the other hand is just a flashy retelling/reimagining of Little Red Riding Hood, and although the animation is amazing, I'm not plunking down $70 for it.

I didn't mind this movie but I doubt I'd buy it again on Blu' even though I love the format. I honestly didn't see much of a difference at all between the special edition SD Final Fantasy in 1080i and the Blu' in 1080i. I will definately get FF Advent Children though... love the animation in that one and looking forward to the new Beowulf CG movie.

The Japanese release is the same disc as the US one - only difference is the packaging and the US release comes with the 522 page storyboard book instead of the SD DVD.
