Prince of Persia Movie produced by Disney

I didn't see a post on this but thought others might find it interesting.

Disney will be producing, along with Jerry Bruckheimer, the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time movie:

Currently, they are looking for a Director. I played and enjoyed the game and think that it will be a good movie if done right (and I do think Disney will do it justice). Since Disney is doing it, it will most likely be a Blu ray release once it goes to DVD.

Or, it could end up like that Country Bears Jambouree movie or the Haunted Mansion movie...Hopefully more like Pirates though.

Apparently, Disney and Bruckheimer are talking with Mike Newell about directing the film....

Disney and producer Jerry Bruckheimer have made an offer to Mike Newell to direct "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time," a live-action feature based on the videogame.

Newell, who last ventured into franchise fare with "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire," met execs at the studio to discuss the project this week, and negotiations are expected to begin shortly.

Of the many video game translations to movies that have come down the pipeline over the years, this one has the most potential to be good. If you haven't played Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time for PS2, you might not understand, but the game itself has an excellent and provocative storyline that wouldn't feel out of place in a big budget Hollywood film.
