Default Sacrifice!/Deep River Savages (Umberto Lenzi)

Sacrifice! Blu-ray

NEWS
https://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=12538

Quote:
Raro Video USA has confirmed that it plans to bring to Blu-ray cult Italian director Umberto Lenzi's Sacrifice! a.k.a Il paese del sesso selvaggio (1972), starring Ivan Rassimov, Me Me Lai, Prasitsak Singhara, and Ong Ard. The release is expected to arrive on the American market in 2014.

Synopsis: Cannibal horror directed by Umberto Lenzi. Fleeing from underworld justice, photojournalist John Bradley (Rassimov) takes to the jungle where he goes native and finds love. However, it turns out that this comes with a high price when he finds that he is living with natives who are not only prized for their women but also for their potential as food stock. (Distributed in the United Kingdom as Deep River Savages).

No Way! More Lenzi.......freakin' awesome! Can't say I seen this one but I hear it is a early entry into the Italian Cannibal wave(pre-dating it actually).

Neat, another Lenzi flick on BD!

Wouldn't be hard to top the Shriek Show DVD for this one: not only are the subtitles completely f'ed up for the "English" version of the film, but the color grading wasn't done properly so scenes that were originally shot day-for-night just kind of happen during the day, and make no sense for it.

Can't say it's even a great film, but who am I kidding. I'll buy it.

aka MAN FROM DEEP RIVER? Day 1 purchase! Now, how about Lenzi's giallo flick 'Eyeball", Raro?

They have tons of announcements recently from all across genres too. They said these are all "2014" releases.... but no more than that yet

Any chances for an animal cruelty free cut?

Doubtful.

I'd consider importing the UK DVD release, if that footage is a deal breaker.

It's not a dealbreaker. I own Cannibal Holocaust after all but at least they ate a good chunk of the animals (About 90% were later consumed for food and were killed in the most human way possible. Even the BBFC agrees), Umberto Lenzi just threw animals in front of the camera to butcher them which sadly hampers this, Eaten Alive and Cannibal Ferox since they are unintentionally hilarious due to the terrible dubbing and dialogue until they decide to kill a poor animal for the sake of it. The fake gore also helps but not that much.

Is this still not out? The only place that I see to preorder it is RaroVideo's Facebook store, advertised in one of their many 50% off weekend sales (currently expired). Wondering if anyone has a release date or if this is close to coming out.

Also, unlike the upcoming 88 Films disc, is it known if this will be uncut to include the animal violence? I wasn't even aware Raro had Man from Deep River in the pipeline because that's the only title I knew it by.

BBFC cut 3 min & 1 second out of the film, but left a monkey mangling intact.

Raro posted a clip on FB a week or two ago, I think they are getting close to release.

Is this the same clip that's 4:3 and in terrible quality?

That's one way to promote your upcoming Blu-ray release.
