Maybe I missed it but I couldn't find a thread for this show. Finally got around to finishing Season 1. It took me a while because it was so hit and miss. One episode would be good and another would be a chore to get through. It definitely got better towards the end though.
Tonight I've watched the first five episodes of Season 2 and it's highly enjoyable. I'm loving Ben Feldman's snobby critic character. He's such a cutie and his gesture of singing Katy Perry to Mindy was really sweet. I would love for this relationship to last a while but sadly I doubt this will happen. This season has definitely increased in quality though. I'd almost recommend people not even bother watching the first season and just diving right in to Season 2. Adam Pally really is pretty much playing a heterosexual version of Max from Happy Endings. Great to have him still on TV even if it's not in Happy Endings ![]() |

The show has improved in it's second season... but I think the supporting characters are really weak at time and the fact that it's so focused on Mindy's romantic life because apparently she can stay single and date white guys.... I find Mindy Kaling likable but not leading material not because she's Indian, because she is a weak actress.
The best character by far is Chris Messina's Danny... |

I'm all caught up now. This show has gotten great. It had like a Parks & Recreation turn-around where Season 1 was decent and then Season 2 was in a whole other league.
I take it this week's episode was the winter finale? Kind of bummed to have to wait for more. The dance Danny did in the last episode was awesome. For those who gave up in Season 1 I'd recommend giving Season 2 a shot. |

When Mindy Project returns for its third season in the fall, Shulman & Associates will be missing one regular receptionist.
EW has confirmed that Zoe Jarman, who portrayed sweet and naive Betsy Putch, will not be returning as a series regular. A rep for the show added: “She has been asked to guest star, so it’s possible that fans will see her next season.” Jarman is far from the first casting shakeup on the Fox comedy series — Anna Camp, Amanda Setton, and others have also departed. The show has also added new additions to the mix, like Peter (Adam Pally), which has been met with audience cheers. TVLine first reported the news of her exit. |

I read this earlier and I was more shocked that she was considered a series regular than her not returning as one. She's in the episodes but she doesn't do much except for say a couple lines. She's funny but it's not a huge loss considering.

Allison Tolman will check into The Mindy Project this fall, EW has confirmed.
The Emmy-nominated Fargo star will guest-star on the Fox comedy for two episodes as a romance novelist who ends up on a bad blind date with Adam Pally’s Peter. The news was first reported by TV Guide Magazine. Tolman joins previously announced guest-stars Niecy Nash, Shonda Rhimes, Rob McElhenney and Rhea Perlman. The Mindy Project returns Sept. 16 at 9:30 p.m. on Fox. |

Just finished watching the first season on Hulu.
I absolutely love this show. Granted, I can see where the criticisms come from. The first season was really one big mess of a TV show. Mindy is a hugely inconsistent character, many of the sideplots amount to nothing, and regular characters are unceremoniously written off left and right. It seems like the show can't decide if it wants to be an ensemble workplace comedy, or a romantic comedy, or what have you, and (on an unrelated note) an alarming amount of the episodes have some sort of cartoonish brawl somewhere in there. And was it just me, or was it annoying that the Midwives just keep popping up after they had already seemed to serve their purpose? Again, though, despite the show being such a mess, I actually really enjoyed it and didn't feel that any of the episodes were terribly boring or hard to get through. Mindy (despite her inconsistencies), Danny, and Morgan (despite being almost unnaturally shoe-horned into half of the plots) are all likeable characters, and perhaps that's why I enjoy the show as much as I do. (Conversely, the rest of the characters seem pretty disposable at this point, though they aren't bad characters.) I don't know... I still seem to be criticising it as I'm writing this, lol. I'm glad that the general consensus is that the show improves after the first season. Looking forward to the rest of my binge watch. Interested to see what Adam Pally brings to the table. |

That was a bold, cliff-hanger finale for a show with such low ratings.... Can they be that confident in a renewal simply due to the episode count approaching the magic number?
Adam Pally has been in like half of the episodes since his character officially left the show (including the episode after he left). Didn't expect him to pop up so much, but he really was one of the best things to happen to the show, so I don't mind. Overall, the show has remained pretty much of a mess, but it's nice that they are actually sticking with the Mindy/Danny relationship, though I feel like they're using Danny's commitment-phobia a little too much. Still, I find this to still be one of the most enjoyable comedies on the air right now. |
