I've had the Onkyo TX-SR606 since 2009 and have a 5.1 Polk surround sound set up which is great. I am having trouble with the TX-SR606 displaying no signal when connecting my PlayStation 4 via HDMI. When I got my PS4 last month, it would sometimes say no signal when first turning on. I had my PS4 display settings set at automatic resolution when connecting to my Samsung 720p tv. I did some googling and changed the PS4 resolution setting to 720p and since then it has always displayed without a no signal pop-up.
I just got a new Samsung UN65FH6001FXZA 1080p tv, so when I tried changing the resolution to 1080p, the tv immediately displayed no signal. Somehow I eventually got the PS4 to display with 1080 and watched a movie and played a game fine. When I turned it on again and ever since I always get no signal. When connecting directly to the TV, the PS4 displays with 1080p. I tried turning the PS4 on with Safe Mode through the receiver and I got the safe mode screen to display, but once I tried changing the resolution and restarting the system, I got no signal again. I also initially had problems with my PS3 displaying no signal when switching the resolution to 1080. But after some googling and seeing others had issues, it was suggested I change PS3 video settings to 1080i and turn Deep Color Output off. Now I get picture immediately. If I try even checking 1080p under resolution settings, the tv displays no signal. I can live with 1080i instead of p if it means I won't have any no signal issues. I don't understand why the receiver won't accept the 1080p resolution though. Not sure if any of my other PS3 settings matter, but I have RGB Full Range set to limited and Y Pb/Cr Super-White off. So right now I have no issues displaying the PS3 and Comcast HD cable with 1080i through the receiver. These are my current PS4 video settings options. They are currently all set to auto. I didn't see a Deep Color Output setting to turn off like the PS3 has. RGB Range - automatic (Recommended), limited, full Y Pb/Cb Pr/Cr Range - automatic (Recommended), limited, full Output at 1080p/24Hz - automatic, off My Onkyo settings I have used since I got it: Immediate Display: On HDMI Output Resolution : Through (I did try changing to 1080i, but it didn't seem to change anything. I also noticed there's no 1080p option. Is this normal?) Zoom Mode: Normal Lip Sync, X.V. Color, Control: Disable My 606 receiver also takes about 5-10 minutes to finally display a picture when first turning it on. I would also sometimes get an awful loud static noise coming from all the speakers when first switching HDMI inputs to a game system. I have seen others with the same issues while browsing the internet. My main concern is with it displaying the PS4 picture right now. I am a little hopeful since I was able to get it to display with my old 720p TV; and once for a period with my new 1080p TV and then I got the safe mode menu to display. Are there any settings I should try changing to get the PS4 to display? Right now I have to have the PS4 connected directly to the TV with a optical cord from the PS4 to Onkyo. |
