Firefly / Serenity Legacy action figures coming late 2014

I’m still not willing to upgrade my expectations beyond “cautiously optimistic” for Funko’s super-articulated 6″ Legacy line, which has been described by Funko as “very much similar in style and accuracy and points of articulation as the Hasbro 6″ Black Series of Star Wars.” I’m cautious in my optimism because Funko has never made products of this degree of complexity, and are currently best known for bobbleheads and its POP figures (and those are often the subject of quality control complaints, particularly the paint work, which is obviously far simpler than what you get on a 6″ realistic-style action figure).
Nonetheless, I remain hopeful that the line is good, particularly since Funko just confirmed Firefly for the Legacy line in late 2014.

Please note everyone that these highly-detailed Firefly figures are coming in LATE 2014! Prior to that, in spring 2014, Funko will be releasing some smaller, non-detailed figures that are intentionally designed to look like crap - meant to evoke the 1970s style of figures. So, ignore the crap ones coming this Spring and wait for later in 2014 for what may truly be amazing Firefly figures.

First teaser images of this Legacy line will be seen during the February 2014 New York ToyFair.

Joss Whedon fans will also be thrilled to hear Funko has some plans for Buffy he Vampire Slayer, though I doubt they will be in the Legacy line. So far they've said there will be Pop! vinyl figures for Buffy, which aren't meant to look human - they look like orbs.

It's so weird Firefly is coming back into the news again for a lot of thing (the MMO for example, new comics etc) now this.

The first wave is in stores now. They are very fragile - the joints have been painted, so you have to gently nudge them or they'll break. Also Mal's hips (upper legs) were assembled back-to-front (which is why the wrinkles in his pants vanish when they get to the top).

Despite the flaws, pretty good.
