Default Time of EVE: The Movie on Blu-ray - Kickstarter Campaign

Time of EVE Kickstarter link

Well, It's getting close to release time for the EVE no Jikan/Time of EVE Kickstarter Blu-ray, so I thought I'd get a thread going in here a while... The international Blu-ray with the first-ever English Dub was supposed to release this month, and the English Fan Book in February... Do we have many folks on the forum here that are participating in this campaign? I'm getting anxious now, it's been a long, patient 7 month wait since the pledging opened...

"Are you Enjoying the Time of EVE?"

Update #23 just posted today...

Quote:
English voice cast and…delay

It is January, the promised delivery date. And it pains us enormously that we aren't ready to ship the Blu-ray this month. We are working hard to get the 100+ subtitle files into tiptop shape, polish the English translation of Yoshiura's short story for the bonus book, and NYAV Post is now tackling the final audio mix for the English dub.

We are aiming to get all of the materials together for the Blu-ray authoring by January 21st, and if all goes well, we will ship in February. We fully accept your ire and disappointment. If you are understanding, we accept that with gratitude.

English Voice Cast!

Thank you all for giving Time of EVE a life of its own in English. The English-language performance would NEVER have happened without your support, and we hope you share our delight with the calibre of the cast.

• Rikuo: Yuri Lowenthal
• Masaki: Michael Sinterniklaas
• Nagi: Stephanie Sheh
• Sammy: Elizabeth Boyle
• Akiko: Cassandra Lee Morris
• Koji: Derek Stephen Prince
• Rina: Lisa Ortiz
• Setoro: Patrick Seitz
• Shimei: George C. Cole
• Chie: Alice A. Johnson
• Katoran: Sean Schemmel
• THX: Casey Mongillo
• Naoko: Molly Kay
• Ashimori: Cindy Robinson

Odds and Ends

• Sony Music granted us the worldwide rights to Kalafina's "I have a dream," and so the soundtrack will be 100% complete!
• Director Yoshiura approved the HD upconvert of "Pale Cocoon" and "Aquatic Language." And so, the 2 shorts will be on the Blu-ray resized for HD.

I'm at the $145 cup/saucer/canister Lot #2 level in the Kickstarter. One set was enough for me; I'm not a coffee drinker, so it's ornamental. ^^; I received my copy of the ONA/OVA Blu-ray from AmazonJP back on the release date of 25 Jan 2011. I fell in love with the ONAs after watching them on Crunchyroll. I downloaded a 25GB fansub of the movie, but never watched it, hoping for a proper subtitled Blu-ray release...

I'm _really_ looking forward to getting the movie BD, fan book, etc. ^_^

Yep, I'm at the $145 level as well, got my cup/saucer/canister set back in October, and I also bought a bunch more, as I posted up a while back on the main Anime thread. Heheh, I'm sure I'll want to repost all the photos here, though...

I also got a copy of the OVA import Blu-ray, but only just a few weeks ago, during the 12-days sale at RightStuf - they had it available for a very short time for just $24, so I figured I'd get a copy before it went completely bye-byes... and I have a couple of fansubs that I have been watching until the Kickstarter Blu-ray gets here.

Well, the only thing is, it's been fairly quiet on the Kickstarter page, so I don't know if the release will be delayed any further or if they're still on schedule...

According to a backer update that was posted on fandom post, they are hoping to start shipping the blu-rays out in February.

This is not related to the Kickstarter blu-ray, but does anyone know if any of the following blu-rays contains English subs?

I see the Update was just posted today; I reposted most of it above in the second post...

Since that's the case, they may as well just ship the Blu-ray and the Fan Book (for those getting it) together at the same time, in one package...

No, they are Japanese language with no subtitles. The only one with English subtitles is the OVA Import Blu-ray, with this cover:

SO have you all seen the Time of EVE Location Hunt webpage yet? A few photos someone posted of the real-life locations seen in the anime...

Webpage link: Location Hunt - EVE no Jikan (Time of EVE)

Pretty cool to see - here are some comparison photos, real life on left, anime on right...

I'm a supporter of the Eve no Jikan Kickstarter as well; Blu-Ray + Fan book tier. Preordered the ONA Blu-Ray before it was first released and bought the Movie version when it was released on iTunes. You can say I enjoy the Time of Eve...

Now Studio Rikka, I'm waiting on the Patema Inverted release...

For those who are not familiar with some of the bonus items available through the Kickstarter campaign for Time of EVE, here are a few photos of the "Are You Enjoying the Time of EVE" coffee cup/saucer set, and Evlend coffee canister, both of which are seen in the ToE movie in photos on left:

And here is a photo of the 8 cup sets and 3 canisters I picked up through the Kickstarter - I am planning to do a Time of EVE theme in the snack bar area of my theater room so I can serve "Evlend" coffee in proper cups to my guests during movie nights...

Time of EVE Kickstarter Campaign Update #24 posted tonight:

Quote:
As the producers, you would think we'd know better. Nothing happens quickly when it comes to Time of EVE.

The sole exception: the breakneck speed at which you supported this Kickstarter campaign. We would like more than anything to reciprocate with a timely delivery of your rewards. Everything is moving forward…painstakingly...slowly…
•NYAV Post has given us a listen to the first hour of the English dub, and we think you will be VERY pleased with the results. Michael Sinterniklaas needs a few more hours in the studio for recording, and then several days for the audio mix.
•We are putting the final touches on the 100+ subtitle files.
•And so, we didn't make the Jan 21st delivery date for getting all of the materials to Justin Sevakis/authoring maestro; February 14th is looking realistic, but it depends on the dub. We've already re-recorded the opening scene (script improvement, thanks to Sam Pinansky's ace team), and we can't rule out the need for additional retakes.
•Yoshiura signed off on the package design over the weekend.
•The 40-page art book has morphed into a 56-page bonus book, which will be bundled with the Blu-ray. We are proofreading the final document this week.
•We wrangled the soundtrack CD master from Aniplex (bless their souls!), and last week we delivered it to the replicator.

And a quick note for $100+ backers: We promised you a limited edition print of an original Nagi illustration by Ryusuke Chayama. But, we've found something better. For the $200 rewards, Chayama drew 5 original illustrations, which all came out very nicely. And, there's one illustration of Sammy in particular that we can't get out of our minds. The recipient of that illustration has graciously allowed us to use this Sammy illustration for the $100+ print reward. Apologies for the Nagi fans out there, but we think you will not be disappointed!
Don't know how long it takes to do the authoring and the rest of these tasks, but I would think it will be March until stuff starts shipping.

And I am one that is a bit upset over them changing the Nagi illustration to a Sammy illustration - I really had my heart set on Nagi, she is my favorite character from the series...

I think they're being optimistic on the 14th as well, given it's the 4th already.

And yeah that seemed a bit wrong to me. A different sketch of the same character would be one thing, but to change to someone completely different... :-\ I guess this is one of those things you have to remember about Kickstarters. Nothing is set in stone because it's being funded and plans can change later.

But I'm not n that reward tier anyway so oh well. Nice to know the art book is getting a good upgrade.

I think they're saying February 14th to get the materials to the authoring company - so it's gotta take a few weeks more after that to get everything made and put together for shipping. And they didn't say a thing about the Fan Book, I'm getting one of those as well.

From all the update comments already, it looks like there are quite a few people not happy with the illustration change from Nagi to Sammy - perhaps if enough people complain perhaps they will decide to do something where we could pick which one we want, or a way to purchase the Nagi print so we could actually get both of then instead of just one... I think they're opening up a big can of worms with that change, it will be interesting to watch how this plays out...

Yeah, so looking forward to both the 56-page Art Book and the 150 page Fan Book - so now over 200 pages of ToE goodness!

Default Project Update #25 - Subtitle Reviewers Wanted

Looks like they're trying to get some last-minute subtitle reviewers for the English subs from the Kickstarter contributors:

Quote:
Project Update #25: English movie subtitles - calling for your input!

Dear Backers,

It has long been our dream to have the English movie subtitles previewed by backers. We have a tiny window of opportunity with the delay of the English dub (still in process).

Can you help us?

If you are interested in giving us feedback on the English movie subtitles:
•Send us a Kickstarter message by Feb. 15th (sat) noon EST and let us know a bit about yourself. Is your English non-American? We need you! (Americans are welcome too, of course!) Are you an editor, writer, translator, or connoisseur of subtitles in general? Great!
•We will select 10 or so backers (depending on the response).
•We'll send participants a video streaming link on Feb. 16th (sun), and we'd like to get feedback by Feb. 19th (wed). We know it's a tight schedule!
•We will give participating backers credit in the Blu-ray .
•We won't be able to implement all of the feedback that we receive, but we do promise to listen.

Several backers are helping to review the French and Spanish subtitles (thank you!!!), and the German, Italian, Russian and Portuguese subtitles have been double checked by editors working closely with the translators.

Whew!

Thank you, and happy Valentine's Day^^

Time of EVE

*sigh* Delayed once Again...

Quote:
Project Update #26: Status update…working…delayed…working more...
Posted by Pied Piper / DIRECTIONS / Studio Rikka

First, close to 50 backers generously offered to check the English movie subtitles. Thank you all!!! Eleven volunteers spent countless hours scrutinizing the movie subtitles, and another 5 people did the same for Pale Cocoon and Aquatic Language. We received thoughtful, detailed and, in many cases, eye-opening feedback. In the case of the movie, we revised roughly 15% of the 1,708 subtitle lines.

We can't wait to get everyone's reaction to the final subtitles when the Blu-ray is out! When will that happen?!?

Unfortunately, not in March. We are shooting for April. Meanwhile, without a doubt, you would like to shoot us. We fully accept that. But, first, please let us continue to work furiously and obsessively to make this the Blu-ray release that you deserve.

We live and breathe subtitle files!!!

Our days, nights, mornings and every moment in between have been spent finalizing the remaining subtitles with our translators and editors, who have tirelessly revised lines and proofread the files. Each translator has improved the overall release in different ways, whether it be clarifying the scenes (as we wrote about earlier) or improving the timing and layout. It all takes time, but we believe it is worth the effort.

Breaking news on the dub...

Now, about the English dub. We have reviewed the full unmixed dub, and are very, very pleased. But…2 days ago dub director Michael Sinterniklaas found a problem with the timecode on the Japanese audio files, which he needs to mix the sound effects and background music. We don't have a solution…yet. Which means we owe you another update.

The Official Fan Book is 100% translated and about 30% edited and laid out, but it is on the back burner until we get the subtitles out the door.

We are doing our best to make the wait worth it to you in the end.

With gratitude,

Time of EVE

Meh, I don't really care as long as they keep us updated, and these sound like good reasons for a delay.

I've sold my Time of Eve ONA Blu-Ray release since the movie is the better version of the two, and have no issue waiting. As long as the best product is put out I don't mind the wait...we are getting Pale Cocoon and Aquatic Language in additional to the Fan book and CD sound track after all.
