United Kingdom Carrie (2013) -- March 31st, 2014

The reworking of Stephen King's classic tale arrives on a Blu-ray/Ultraviolet combo pack.

Quote:
Personal thoughts: Bland adaptation that borrows too much from the 1976 film and not enough from the book. Partner has it ordered.

Carrie Blu-ray

As I've just said in the US thread....production line horror.
No personality of its own, woefully miscast and bland beyond belief.

They really need to stop it with these remakes now.

Agreed. My general rule of thumb now is if its a Screen Gems-produced remake, steer clear.

And as for the remakes, I'm sure we'll see at least 2 more adaptations of this film in our lifetime.

It's a very fun and enjoyable movie. Ignore the fact that it's a remake and look at it as it's own thing. It has a nice atmosphere, but suffers a bit from slow pace. I enjoyed it a lot more the second time I saw it in cinemas!

I wish they had kept the town destruction scene. I have no idea why the studio would want that cut out. It only made it more appealing to audiences in general and a lot more faithful to the source material!

This isn't scary, it's way too slow in parts and I don't believe Moretz in the role, but I actually really enjoyed the film lol.

Will get this when it's cheap as chips.

Almost impossible seen as it's exactly the same with no style of its own.

Does anyone know what the bonus features are on the disk? Is it going to be the same as the US version?

The original film is one of my favourites - so I was pretty hesitant when going into this. It wasn't awful, but it was so close to being a scene for scene remake of the original in certain scenes, it was almost drifting into 1998 Psycho territory.

The highlight was Julianne Moore, I thought she did a terrific job. I also enjoyed seeing a larger scale finale too, visually. I think one of the films major problems was it's portrayal of Carrie herself - I was no where near as sympathetic towards this version as Spacek's. I did end up enjoying it more than I thought I would, though.

I think I'll wait till this drops in price before I pick it up. It's an unsurprisingly unnecessary remake, but still a bit of a curio for fans of the 'Carrie' franchise.

Utter gash this, nowhere near as brave as De Palma's original. Seems like a made for TV reworking, Glee does Carrie......Awful!

IMHO
