It's a Warner Bros. film. Warner Bros. does not license to anyone.

Not to mention if it's coming out in March it's too late to be included in Criterion's slate for that month. Unless they come out with it later but I don't see that happening. It is a film I could see as a Criterion though.

Also, YAY! This is earlier than expected. Love this movie, it's basically tied with Gravity for my #1 of last year.

Not exactly true, Badlands for example. Also criterion producers said they had a good working relationship with WB.

I believe the only examples of WB films being in Criterion come from films that Warner Bros. does not own wholesale. My understanding is that a significant portion of Badlands was controlled by the producer and he insisted on it being made available to them.

Plus, that's literally two out of some 600 films. Foreign Correspondent, which was just distributed by Warner on home video (it's a Walter Wanger production, originally released by United Artists), is the only other film ever released by them in the collection, as far as I can remember.

Warner's distribution rights to the Westchester Films library, which includes Foreign Correspondent and Stagecoach, lapsed and Criterion picked them up. So that leaves Badlands as the only deal they've had with WB so far.
