Default Marvel's 'Captain America: Civil War' Review Thread (Spoilers)

Quote:
‘Captain America 3′ Takes Shape at Marvel (EXCLUSIVE) Anthony and Joe Russo returning to direct third installment

Marvel is still focusing on “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” which arrives in April, but sources tell Variety that Anthony and Joe Russo will be back in the director’s chair for a third installment, even though it hasn’t yet been officially greenlit.

Marvel had no comment.

Negotiations wouldn’t begin till after ‘Winter Soldier’ bows but sources say Marvel has been so impressed with the production of “Winter Soldier,” as well as with strong results from recent test screenings, that the studio has moved fast to attach the brothers to the next installment.

Since many of the actors have options for a third installment, a threequel is likely in the cards as long as “Winter Soldier” performs well.

A writer and release date are still pending for “Captain America 3″ but sources say Marvel and the Russos are already putting together an outline of what the third film’s story arc would look like.

Kevin Feige will produce with Chris Evans returning in the title role.

Going back to “Iron Man,” when Feige announced the first phase of Marvel’s release plans, Feige and the studio have been reluctant to commit to directors for subsequent installments too early in the process.

The Russos, who previously directed over 30 episodes of NBC’s “Community,” stepped in to direct “Captain America: Winter Soldier” in 2012 after Joe Johnson helmed the first installment.

Marvel prefers to get these deals done early so that the director can help develop future sequels. But the studio can also move faster when necessary — when Kenneth Branagh passed on the “Thor” sequel, Marvel landed Alan Taylor.

The move is clearly a vote of confidence for the helmers of “Captain America: the Winter Soldier,” which bows on April 4.

The first Cap was meh, but really looking forward to TWS, which looks quite good. Would be a big plus to get the brothers locked up for #3.

This only increases my excitement for "The Winter Soldier", it shows Marvel is very confident with the final product which leads me to believe the movie will be incredible.

meh... I'm good with just 2 Cap films, then they should use available slots for other characters.

I've always felt the solo characters should have two trilogies: Their own standalone trilogy, and an Avengers trilogy. After that, if the actor wants to continue, you could go from there.

I think this news makes the impending 'Winter Soldier' even more exciting. Bringing back the same directors means they like what they see in the new one. Good on you, Marvel Studios.

All this news indicates is that the Winter Soldier might be the real deal. Personally, I'm looking, cinematically, for the successor to the original Iron Man picture.

Hasn't happened yet but I'm getting the feeling that the Winter Soldier might be it.

We'll see in 2 months.

He's contracted for six, which he's always seen as a Captain America trilogy and an Avengers trilogy.

I don't think the Foggy spoiler counts- in fact, I believe the current video doing the rounds (of
[Show spoiler]Loki in the outfit
) was filmed as a back-up in case Evans didn't agree to do it for free, as it were. There's no way Marvel would risk losing a film for a simple joke cameo, especially not after having to negotiate with Downey Jr. over Avengers 2 and 3.

Contracted for 6 films. 3 Cap Americas and 3 Avengers. At least that's how it will most certainly play out. Same will happen for Thor.

I could've sworn they contracted him for 9 films when they signed him to be the leader of the Avengers, apparently I was mistaken.

Evans has said he was offered nine films but turned it down as too big of a commitment.

And stop the hyperbole train? lolz NOPE!

Winter Soldier, best movie EVR! Calling it now.

Really though, if you think...there was no fromal green light and no real negotiations, and it was from a unknown source, so really what this story is is Disney getting free hype and press from the internet clicks. That's all.

That is correct. Though I recently read an interview with him where he stated he's more than open for more if Marvel wants to renew his contract.

I would like to see Captain America time travel back to the 1940s to deal with Hitler and have more time with Peggy Carter.

I really dont get why Hollywood has no balls for doing the "changing history/stopping Holocaust from happening" fantasy storyline. People would get insulted?
