Ok...quick question....since steven spielberg can release his own movies on bluray....can he release saving private ryan on bluray even though its owned by dreamworks?

It is my understanding he can release any of his films on Blu. I am looking forward to this release also.

This movie has been one of my all time favs...just think of an avc encoding with 48/24 uncompressed 7.1 audio....!!!!

yes... the thought is making my mouth water!!! the DTS audio of the DVD was awesome, it's going to be heavenly in blu

If you want to try and be sure that it happens, I highly suggest picking up Close Encounters of the Third Kind this week.

Well....see I am actually watching it now and thats what made me remember about saving private ryan...hehe...PQ and AQ on this movie is absolutely stunning...makes newer movies seem like crap IMO.

Agreed. Speilberg supports the BD format and this being the fledgling solo venture for Speilberg, any positive sign in sales will only substantiate his bold move. I think Steven has a buddy named Lucas as well.

Agreed, I really can not believe how good it looks and sounds.
You would not know how old it is if you were seeing it for the first time.

Oooo uncompressed sound on SPR Blu... the neighbours will definitely want to throw me out and kill me then. The assault scene on the beach is just incredibly intense and the sound was amazing on the DVD.

But there will be grain...oh yes....grain there will be. But I can live with that

Spielberg cannot just release them

The only rule is that if they want to release them on high-def, they must ALSO release a Blu version

Though it appears he may have forbidden any HD DVD releases, we do not know that for certain
