I am pretty new to home theater and am using a Pioneer VSX-823 Receiver, Polk Audio PSW110 Sub, TSx150c Center, and just ordered RTI A1 for my L&R.
First really newbie question - since my sub has input/output for L&R speakers am I supposed to plug those into the sub, then to my receiver, or do I just directly go through the receiver? Second - will these speakers "match" well together? I read about how you want them in the same family of speakers, but I am not sure exactly if they are. Lastly, any tips on my eventual floorstanding speakers? I am going to eventually move the bookshelves to the back, and use the floorstanding as my front LR. I am in a house with a fairly closed living room, carpet, and have room for the speakers. |

So you're going to have a 3.1 setup for a while?? Not a bad setup while you work toward getting those towers.
Your first question about the sub....I'd definitely use the LFE in\RCA connection only so your receiver can do the crossover work and only send the needed frequencies to your sub. No speaker wire needed for those other connections. As far as your speakers matching, both of those models have the "silk\polymer Dynamic Balance" tweeters so you're in good shape as far as timbre-matching. Not to mention, using the optimization\MCACC thing your receiver has built in will help lower any discrepancies between the two. You've got a good thing going, man, so I say just connect the sub via RCA, run your optimization program, and enjoy it. Trust me, it could be WAY more mismatched or worse in quality. |

I agree with Starkscream on everything to a point. I would only add that you should in the future get a Csia4,5,6 center, it will help with more clarity. And for your fronts go to the Rtia5,7,9 series speakers. They are the designed to go with the Rtia1s and will be timber matching for sure. If I'm incorrect please help with with anything I've said. i think I got it right. Like he said solid starting place for sure. And HEY, You need more movies LOL..

![]() I am so excited to be finally started with my home theater setup! I decided to return my old center to best buy and am ordering a CSI A6 as you suggested. I am ordering the RITA 7s for my floor standing speakers. Should be here in time for next weekend ![]() Thanks a bunch for the suggestions. ![]() |

Thanks much! Edit - Also speakers are arriving next Friday March 6th! I can't wait to get them. I found one on a sick discount since it was dropped and has a chip in the corner (which I am going to fix as I am a bit handy when it comes to woodworking). I will take lots of photos! ![]() Last edited by Blu Ray; 02-25-2014 at 06:11 AM. |
