http://www.amazon.com/Spiderman-3/dp...N%3DB00IGVJGYQ According to Amazon Canada and VideoETA listings, Spidey 3 disc is one of the 'Mastered in 4K' titles. http://www.amazon.ca/Spider-Man-3-4K...75975&sr=1-166 Not sure about the trilogy re-release though. I bought Spider-man 3 used a few months ago for very cheap because it's my least favorite Raimi Spider-man. I don't see myself upgrading to the Mi4K edition if it is released, mostly for the price of the editions. I'd rather buy Mi4K editions of movies I really really like.
I also thought there was an issue with 3's effects and the DI process being finished in 2K. I think I read that on here, so I have no source or anything. |

So you'd say the 4K versions are worth it for Spider-man? It's just somewhat of a bummer because they utterly lack special features from what I understand (though I know that's so the disc can contain the movie at the highest quality) and the original releases had some pretty good ones.

I'm in if there's an ASM1 re-release as well.

Sorta!
The "Mastered in 4K" line are just 1080p Blu-rays mastered and sourced from new 4K scans of movies. I think it's interesting Sony is still selling new editions of these Spider-man movies. I thought they'd avoid them since they have a new line of movies. Are these aimed at the early UHDTV adopters? Or hardcore fans? Last edited by shane01; 02-24-2014 at 12:23 AM. |

So... that cover art confirms a simple repackage for the old Blu-ray's. The trilogy set is just another repackaging of the older discs (the one's with Blue covers and some of the extras).
The standalone MI4K release of Spider-Man 3 will be the only way to get the 4K rescan. Guess I'll be getting that to add to the collection. |

If you have a decent HDTV around 40 in. or larger (especially 50 in. or larger) the difference will be clearly noticeable. Technically, these 4K scans will make the film look better on anyone's HDTV but you'll be more likely to appreciate it on larger screens. The scans and encoding are a HUGE improvement. |
