Suits: Seasons 1-3 - June/2014

Universal have announced that they will be releasing Suits: Seasons 1-3 on Blu-ray in the UK and Ireland on June 9th.



This will mark the series debut to the Blu-ray format. The series was previously only released on DVD.

In two minds about this, a bit pissed off they waited so long as I already have season 1 on DVD, but I haven't purchased season 2 yet (I still have recordings from TV), but I do love the show so maybe I'll wait until it's cheap...

They've just started submitting S3 to the BBFC, so it hasn't yet entered production, or they haven't yet started producing labels...

Although the IFCO have this rather unusual content descriptor for episode 9 "Contains scenes of relationship anger and manipulation."

Really great news that the UK has got this release, out of anywhere in the world. I wonder if the US hate us with all this favour we're getting from Hollywood recently.

I know this is about the UK release, but today the first season was released in Germany as a 3-Disc-Set. Here are some pictures of the set:

As you can see in the last screenshot the set comes with a flipcover so the ugly FSK-Logo goes away. The flipcover a little bit diffrent (grey box on the back over).

Is the audio DTS-HD 5.1? It only says DTS on the back specs.

Interesting how they have the UK and Irish certs on the discs already as well - looks like they are ready for the local release here too! Can't wait.

If you look closer on the back you will see that it offers DTS-HD Master audio for English, German and French and DTS-only for Spain and italian.

The UK box is down to a tempting £34.09, but I'm very nervous.

The German standalone release of Season 3 has been delayed to infinity (right now 30 December 2014) and I'm worried it could lack lossless audio, after the nightmare with House M.D..

I think I shall pre-order and hold my breath.

In case Universal is reading this, this set is a blind buy. I am only watching the series because it's on Blu-ray.

Why would they give us lossless audio for S1 then bugger it up for the other two? (Stupid question, that's almost certainly bound to have happened, or they'll have stuck BBFC certificates on the DE release, but given us a different master - it's not unprecedented for Universal to produce UK & Australian English only masters - or something ridiculous.)

To be fair, the UK DVD of S1 has Dolby Digital 2.0 and no subtitles, so even just the 5.1 mix with some English SDH subs is an upgrade...

And to be honest McCrutchy, I don't think it will get a US release, House might but Suits probably won't. It's probably the ability to shunt all of Europe and Australia with the same disc and master that makes it viable for Universal. My personal guess would be this (European release) is your only option...
