I'm in for this one, certainly. Not sure on Savage Streets.

I blind bought this movie and liked it quite a bit despite it's weirdness. It's a WTF kind of film, sort of like Scream '81. The rough quality of the print doesn't bother me at all. Actually I prefer it that way

LOVE this movie. It definitely gets an unfair rap online. It's no more mean-spirited than Saw or Seven, for sure. I thought it was fun and creepy.

Will definitely be picking up this Blu-ray.

Tempted to blind buy this and Mary, Mary a Bloody Mary from Code Red since NetFlix does not carry them. However, I am sketched out by the awful, awful grammar and writing mistakes in the descriptions on the bigcartel site.

Can anyone vouch for good and timely service from Code Red?

Rough quality of a print is one thing, but the missing frames & lines of dialogue that are gone are quite another. The shotgun killing outside seems to be cut as well, although it is hard to tell since I haven't seen the DVD. According to Mondo Digital this seems to be a different print than the one used for the DVD since the damage marks are in different spots. Can anyone who also has the DVD confirm whether the shotgun killing runs the same in both versions?

I've never had any problems ordering from Code Red. You do not get a shipping confirmation...but the orders always arrive superfast.

This was a really weird movie. I didn't understand what was going on at all. But I liked it!

I've seen slaughter high and that one I at least kind of understood the plot. Redeemer on the other hand was just madness.
[Show spoiler]what was up with the kid coming out of the lake? The two thumbed hand? Who was trying to kill the class and why? At a certain point I just gave in and let the movie play itself out without trying to understand it.

You have to understand, guys... yes, The Redeemer is most certainly a slasher movie, but it actually predated Halloween. So not all of the slasher movie conventions were pegged down into a formula just yet.

The movie it was really trying to rip-off was The Omen. Hence, the thick biblical undercurrent and title "The Redeemer".

Notice that when it was finally released on video in the height of the slasher craze, it was re-titled the much more slashery... Class Reunion Massacre.

A lot of people in reviews have criticized it for being "too mean", given the nature of the killer murdering people for what he considers their "sins"... But I don't see it as any more mean-spirited than movies like Saw or Seven. It's not really all that different. And Saw completely lifted the whole puppet thing from this movie, as well.

You're gonna quote me it should be within the context of a conversation. There's no conversation here.

I've recently read repeatedly that this is a mean spirited movie. Never seen it.

Colour me curious.

If anyone is on the fence and the trailer won't clear it up for ya, the whole flick is on youtube, albeit in crap quality. But you can get the idea and know if you like it or not enough to get the BD. Close, but I passed. IMO there's just so many other movies that do the same thing way better.

I compared the DVD with the Blu and it's the exact same print. The only difference is the inclusion on the Blu of a gore shot that was at the head of a reel. It seems that it was cut because of the condition of it but I guess they included it for the sake of completion. The damage is in the exact same places (skips, scrathches, what have you).
