USA The Lego Movie: Everything is Awesome Edition

So on the 26th of March, Amazon deleted the standard 3D release of The Lego Movie in favour for a more expensive "Collectors Edition" with a few extras. Personally, Im a little annoyed at the fact the normal set was cancelled all together and that the price for this set is $15 more. I have still re-ordered this new set hoping and assuming by release it will be much cheaper but nevertheless, its a rather a bold and drastic move by WB.

Release Date: Aug 14, 2014
Pre-order

Just to let you know it's not an Amazon exclusive. Here's the WM listing:

Also, I'm sure the standard 3D Combo pack will exist at some point.

Yeah I didn't see it marked as an Amazon Exclusive. I do, however, agree with the OP. I'm not a big fan of this recent trend of Amazon listing a preorder, then later throwing up another preorder, and having the original just vanish into server 404 nothingness. I fail to see why Amazon can't, at least, give the option for all those the preordered the original to automatically preorder the newer listing, AND at the same preroder price they had originally.
Now I don't think Amazon would do this, and I think this is just a simple case of adding a listing to their database a little too early...but in the last year this has happened several times with various BD preorders, of mine.

Just changed the original post to correct where I said it was an Amazon Exclusive. At least by not being an exclusive, it should mean when retail stores lower their price, Amazon will as well or at least beat them.

Yikes, for the price, I'm definitely not a fan. Especially since it's just an amaray case (no slipcover) and a plastic 3D photo. The figurine definitely isn't a surprise.

They should've just made a case entirely out of Legos; I'd shell out some money for that.

This movie is very likely gonna be a day-one buy for me, but I'm holding out for a slip w/figurine or some other kind of exclusive packaging somewhere (digi-book, digi-pak, steelbook, I don't care, even if it's not 3D).

Gotta love that a $3 Lego minifig and a piece of molded plastic that will give DVD collectors a nightmarish flashback to The Simpsons packaging fiasco somehow justifies a huge price increase.

Steep price tag for a disappointing bundle.

That's how I feel. I know Target has an exclusive, but Best Buy or Wal-Mart might have something.

That's really expensive for a 2D movie with minifigure. It's really nice that they throw in the 3D movie as a bonus though.

Seriously, why doesn't the package just say Blu-ray 3D + Blu-ray + DVD + Digital?

Best Buy has it up on their site with a sale price of $37.99.

Target.com has it listed at the same price as well.

I'm going to get the regular version. Possible the Target exclusive version. The extra stuff you get with this edition just doesn't justify the price. And there is no slip cover. Big no no!

Pretty much, the 3D disc is the bonus. So I guess you are paying for that and all the plastic.
Debating now on this or the 2D version since I really don't do 3D. I guess 2D would be a lot cheaper.

I have to have the 3d but the price for this is ridiculous. Especially with no slip.

Well I was able to get Amazon to get my order down to $17.96 so I can live with that price.
