awesome news. whew...im just glad that we are able to update to profile 1.1. was kinda scared that my ps3 might become obsolete with all the talk about most players not being able to update

i was hoping that this would come out a couple weeks ago when 1.1 was standard but better late than never. i was happy to hear as well that they could do this via firmware not hardware.

There is a 2.01 update hitting in a week or two, I am guessing it will be in there.

It said that 2.01 is to improve the stability only. It will hit before the end of the year, but no real date was ever given.

I was getting a bit worried as of late because Sony was so quiet on the subject of Profile 1.1. I knew the system should be capable of it, but given how everything's been going lately with Sony I just wasn't sure. They've put a lot of stuff off and I figured something like that had happened. It's wonderful to hear that Profile 1.1 is indeed coming out before the movies start to ship. Now I can go ahead and place my pre-orders without worrying about anything else.

I think that will be simply a stability update, hopefully it'll have DIVX and Profile 1.1

Whether the PS3 gets a DTS HDMA/Dolby TrueHD-pass through ability or internally decoded as it can with TrueHD, these lossless tracks cannot be transmitted to your receiver. The best bet is to get a new receiver.

I think bill hunt from the digitalbits.com mentioned it in one of his recent 2 cents saying that it will come out on i believe dec. 28th. Around then, right before new years. Just before Extinction!
