I don't know, but I'm sure the US will get something.

That would be neat. Especially for a new release film. I think all the WB UCE's are for older films. Although for the 130euro price on AmazonDE, I would wager it comes with a statue.

You're probably right. Looks like we'll have to wait a while, though. (looks like it comes out Dec. 31)

I wish more US releases got statues with them! I'll buy every one!
I think that date is a placeholder. Unless Godzilla goes on to make Frozen type boox office numbers, it should be out early Q4.

Well, I don't know what you consider old but I really like the Watchmen, Dark knight trilogy and I am Legend set and if this new Godzilla is like those I'll be pretty stoked

Nice. Getting this for sure even if its an import. Havent seen the movie yet but have a feeling its going to be a keeper just based on early reviews.

I've been thinking that that poster would make a great steelbook. If the movie is good, and I'm hoping/expecting it will be, I'm definitely in for a Godzilla steel.

Good point! I actually own all 3 of those sets, and totally forgot about them.
So bring on the UCE! I'm game!

Watched this new Godzilla over the weekend. Can't say I was very impressed. The visual effects were nice enough but if I'm being honest there are plenty of gripes here that show weakness from the newer director.
  • Sound effects are missing or underwhelming at times. Godzilla's roar is satisfying but pay attention and the score inappropriately takes priority at times when sound effects would be helpful or interesting.
  • Fight scenes were cut short often (at least 2-3 fight scenes just start and then a door or some other obstacle conveniently obscures our view so we can't see crap) and when they weren't the choreography of the fights wasn't terribly great.
  • The protagonist is rather weak as a character and was pretty much a convenience for getting us from scene to scene with a consistent human element present. Substitute his mom, dad, wife, and child where necessary.
  • The protagonist has a skillset that allows him to move along nearby the creatures for most of the film, yet I can't recall any moment where he actually is shown USING HIS SKILLSET. Again, pure "story" convenience.
  • The protagonist's father is the strongest character in the entire film yet doesn't get much screen time.
  • The "scientist" that is involved in moving things forward after the first half hour or so has weak dialogue and I honestly don't know why he's there. He disappears after repeating a lot of the same dialogue over and over and the movie is better for it.

I could go on but those are my major gripes. Basically the film has a lot of boring moments and there's one moment in particular that didn't make sense (which I won't spoil but it involves a train) considering previous exposition in the film, but all that aside I still rate it a 6/10 for being relatively entertaining and visually interesting if carrying some serious flaws alongside that.

Frankly this is a better Godzilla film than the 1998 incarnation, but the 1998 incarnation had better dialogue and characters (particularly Jean Reno's), and I wasn't even a fan of Matthew Broderick in his role.

I loved this movie as well!! I am really hoping for a collectors edition from the UK, or at the very least a steelbook.
