You can say what you want about Warner's super-library but for my money, the best back catalogue of any studio has to be MGM basically because it has the United Artists library. Since MGM is busier issuing Chuck Norris and other such crap from the other labels they've acquired, I couldn't be happier about Kino issuing UA titles on HD. Pussycat has never been available in 16x9!

What's New is a great comedy, good to see it's finally getting a release. By the way there's a very good Blu Ray transfer of How to Steal a Million available in Czechoslovakia...Of course there are certain draw backs on getting the order through: Like if the delivery donkey gets delayed enroute. ![]() |

Here is a link: http://www.filmarena.cz/blu-ray-jak-ukrast-venusi However please note, I'm certainly not endorsing any retailer of the blu ray as my experiences haven't been great (months of delay). But the picture quality of the restored film on blu ray is terrific and the movie is probably even better than I remembered it. Both movies are great Peter O'Toole comedies, and I'm surprised that the cover of 'What's New Pussycat' features Woody Allen as I think it probably misleads buyers because his role is relatively supporting to O'Toole and Sellers? |

It's a fairly enjoyable movie. A (semi) classic. I assume it will be released on blu-ray sooner rather than later. Re: Pussycat, great cast, but it sounds like a bad movie overall. I'll give it a try though. |

Obviously this new Studio Classics line is untested as of yet, but Kino has an excellent track record when it comes to releasing older films. Here's a link to their studio page on this site:
https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/movies.php?studioid=280 As you can see, they have consistently received high marks on titles such as Nosferatu, Metropolis, the General, Fear & Desire, etc. I am confident they will do a fine job with these titles. |
