Chicago-based distributors Music Box Films have revealed that they are planning to bring to Blu-ray director Arnaud des Pallières's Michael Kohlhaas a.k.a. Age of Uprising: The Legend of Michael Kohlhaas (2013), starring Mads Mikkelsen, Bruno Ganz, Denis Lavant, Sergi Lopez, Mélusine Mayance, and Delphine Chuillot. The preliminary release date set by the distributors is August 26th.

An epic drama set in 16th century France against a backdrop of feudalism in decline, Age of Uprising: The Legend of Michael Kohlhaas stars Mads Mikkelsen (The Hunt, A Royal Affair) as a well-to-do horse merchant who resorts to fanatical and violent extremes to obtain justice after a nobleman openly and illegally humiliates him by stealing two of his horses. Adapted from Heinrich von Kleist's novella, a classic of German Romanticism, Michael Kohlhaas was previously adapted for film in 1969 by Volker Schlöndorff and served as the inspiration for E.L. Doctorow's Ragtime.

Excellent news. Music Box films always does a great job with their BD releases...and I'll watch anything with Mads Mikkelsen in it. He is a fantastic actor!
