Hi there,
all the Blu-rays I've tested on this player (except for the occasional two that don't have a load-up screen) appear to be unplayable. They don't get past the initial start-up screen. I've reset the player to factory settings and it's the same problem. The player is not connected to the Internet, so if a software update is needed, I'm screwed. Here's an online manual guide. I'm probably missing something really obvious, but if someone could help me, it'd be greatly appreciated. Regards, Phil |

Do DVDs work Phil?
When you say start-up screen do you mean the one where you select the disc's language and not the main-menu? Is the remote unresponsive on the start-up screen or do you get a error message when you try and press select? The only thing I can think of is that the Parental Lock has switched on and it's stopping playback. Restoring the factory settings should have removed that function but you could try again, remove the disc and hold down STOP for fives seconds on the front panel. |

I would say the laser reader's gone, but that's clearly not the case as some of the Blus work and all of my DVDs do. I'll try holding down the stop button. Thanks. ![]() |

UPDATE: Still no dice.
I switched it on and off from the mains and even tried putting it in another plug socket. Tested The Little Mermaid. The Disney castle load screen and the language screen blended weirdly (picture below), I was able to press select and get to the trailers, but the image kept jumping/crossing over like a scratched disc (obviously there was nothing wrong with it). Same thing on a few others I tried, too (also Disney). It's weird because it plays other discs just fine. Maybe the laser's temperamental? How would I go about cleaning it? Is there a disc? ![]() [Show spoiler]

Amazon have a few under Blu-ray lens cleaners. They're worth a shot. It sounds like the laser maybe failing but a clean might help. |

Here's something to try that works on a lot of players a few years old:
Go into the set up functions on the player and shut off 'BDwise' or disconnect the internet from the player. Many Universal Studios discs constantly atrtempt to connect to the internet for new previews etc'... and there aren't any or the player cannot tie into the sites any longer. Anyway, try that and then re-play your disc and see what you get. This fix has worked on some Samsungs and Panasonics. |

Thanks! EDIT: I spoke too soon. Tried Frozen 3D. Jittery image again. I then turned off the 3D using the conversion and no jitters. I don't know what to make of it now. Maybe it's just a problem with 3D discs? EDIT 2: Tried a few Disney titles as that's what I was having the most problems with. Here's the issues I got: Aladdin - Worked fine (except load-up/language blend) Frozen 3D - Started jittering from the menu, stopped jittering when I converted it to 2D. Pixelated image when rewound/forwarded. Little Mermaid 3D - Couldn't get past Disney castle load-up High School Musical - Got past the previews, just a black screen after that. No menu, etc. Last edited by Phil92; 06-05-2014 at 09:44 AM. |

The problem that you're experiencing, could be a firmware issue! If your blu-ray player does not have internet capabilities, then you may have to update your firmware, with the disc. You can download the latest firmware update onto a CD-R from the manufacturer's website, then install it. Make sure that you follow the instruction precisely, or your firmware install will be incorrect.
