I've been holding off buying TWD due to the cut status of season one. I know the German release is uncut, but it would be terrific if this season 1-4 set finally corrected the season one cuts so i could purchase them all together.

Of course it is, considering they'll do a new boxset for when Season 5 comes out, and then another one for when Season 6 comes out, and so on and so forth.

Still cut!

I love this series but unfortunately parts 2,3,4 and 5 of season one are still cut. If you want all parts uncut you have to buy the German special uncut edition (with black cover) or simply the US version. But watch out: the US version is region A coded and you need a special code free player!
The English box is rated 18. How old do you need to be to watch it uncut!!!!!!!
(Because adding several exclamation marks, really makes your point credible...)

ok thanks for info.

i am personally still on the fence on buying any as i was waiting for a complete box-set but then was also eyeing up the ES steel-books but i guess they wont make any more now due to bad sales..also since AMC plan on doing a lot more seasons going by total films magazine which says up to possibly season 7 or 8...i guess i will just have to wait it out

HBO? The Walking Dead airs on AMC (home of Breaking Bad, Mad Men, Turn, Halt and Catch Fire, and Hell on Wheels)...

And of course they'll do as many seasons as they can, the whole objective of US TV is to reach 100 episodes so they sell repeats of the show to other broadcasters. If they keep doing 16 episodes a year, it will be 7 seasons before they hit that number...

I read somewhere (I think it was Empire magazine) that they've got the go-ahead for season seven.

Seeing as they've already greenlit season 6, and seven gets them to syndication numbers (if you don't know syndication is the technical term for repeats on other broadcasters), it's practically guaranteed, even if it hasn't been 100% confirmed.

Although once a show is syndicated actors contracts generally begin to expire, a few things could happen at that point: 1) The show becomes a lot more expensive as regulars demand raises and AMC decides to take the hit 2) Lots of characters get killed off as AMC doesn't want to/can't afford to give out raises, and being a zombie horror show, with the possible exception of Rick, everyone's expendable 3) AMC kill the show due to increase expenditure and minimal gain from advertising as the show is already syndicated.

The third is unlikely, but reality is likely to be somewhere between 1 and 2, with some people getting raises and some characters being killed off to cover it...

I don't think shows need to hit 100 anymore in the US anymore, today 88 is the goal, with 81 a minimum.

The Walking Dead hit syndication at 51 episodes (four season in)!

The lowest I've heard is 88 episodes (never 81 although a desperate studio has probably tried it), generally with a commitment for another 22. Anyway 100 is still the desired number even if it isn't absolutely necessary...

Has The Walking Dead been syndicated outside of AMC then? All I've heard of are AMC's marathons, which they seem to do everytime the show returns from a break...

Edit: having just googled it, The Walking Dead is syndicated on My NetworkTV. MyNetworkTV is a little bit different that most syndication packages in that it's only 2 episodes a week, instead of 1 or 2 a day. It surprises me, given the show's popularity that they haven't tried the later, although it probably doesn't have enough episodes yet...

Seriously though, I don't care how edited it is, 7PM seems a bit early for network television...

I think they should just do 8 seasons then wrap it up. I'd rather see it go out on a high than get dragged down. US dramas are often the same, they get dwindling viewing figures, so they cut costs, cut actors and generally its never as good as earlier seasons.

I have heard the theory that AMC renewed it for another one (or two) seasons so the writers could start to wrap it up. And that the current
[Show spoiler] attempt to get to Washington to find a cure
will herald the end of the series.

Has Amazon made an error on this? I just placed an order at £4.00. Also ordered season 5 and 6 for £3 each. They also had season 7 at £4 but can't seem to order that now, damn.

Ha, I think I paid about £36 a couple of years ago & thought I'd done well. I could be wrong, but I don't think it's a pricing mistake, they probably have a lot of sets unsold & people would want to buy the latest full set.

They had the 1-7 set at £5.
